Lore Note: Wulver's ability to fly is similar to that of dragons in the sense that neither could fly without magic. There are Laws of Magic, however, just like there are Laws of Nature. So he can fly even though too heavy and not aerodynamically correct but their are limits on what he can lift and for how long. Sofie is near that limit. He could cover some ground with her, or say carrying the Wolf and the Fox, but Thrynn ... he would be lucky getting that giant a foot or two off the ground for a few minutes. And, of course, I am also limited in how I can actually display his wings, his flying, how they attach to his body, the mechanics, etc., so I use my imagination a lot and the images merely props in a play to help set the stage.

In addition it takes a great deal of magic and physical life energy to manifest his wings. Consequently he doesn't do it often as its draining, That, and wanting to keep them a secret, is why he doesn't show them off too often. Outside of Gargoyle impressions and looking dramatic of course :-)

Fantastic new chapter, wonderfully written and with awesome and beautiful illustrations!
Looks like the team got a bit delayed thanks to their cart driver drinking habits but thanks to Nelthas portion, the driver got some clarity and they continued their adventure. I liked how the team was brainstorming their ideas, with Sofie sharing some insight of how Molag Bal disciples operate and about the goals of this Dark Prince. Serna told Sofie a lot about him even when she was little, so thanks to those stories and all the recent research she can at least make a guess of why Florentius was kidnapped. Hopefully they won’t be too late to save him!

It was very intriguing to see them at the inn with few customers, shady servant and talkative innkeeper. Obviously due to Thalmor fort and Harkon castle not so far, only bold and daring people will stop near by and even more daring adventurers would be brave enough to enter the fort or castle. I can only guess about unlucky fates of those two groups that went to the fort and were gone missing. Still the inn got history and it was interesting to read about it.

Then things started to escalate, given how the wind rune was used against both Sofie and Wulver looks like the priest of Arkay who ended up dead might have been murdered, for he also fell from the stairs. However no one, even Molag Bal servant could have foresee that Wulver has wings and would rush to rescue poor Sofie who clearly was unprepared for such treacherous rune spell that threw her off to the water down below. It was very beautiful and heartwarming scenes of Wulver rescuing her as he told few more facts about his story to curious and grateful Sofie.
Looks like Thrynn and Sofie will be few people who know this much about him… And Sofie is good with secrets, so Wulver won’t have to worry about her telling anyone about his wings.

And Nelthas along with Thrynn got another trial, thanks to Silvio… It is great that Nelthas is so adept with sensing poison, so he saved Thrynn before it was too late. I wonder if that horrific poison even has an antidote.... probably it doesn’t, but thanks to Nelthas Thrynn got lucky. It was intriguing to see his observations of Nelthas way to carry himself that made Thrynn realize what job Nelthas had before joining Sofie and Dannee… Yet Nelthas did change and Thrynn clearly saw it.

It was great action bit with Wulver and Sofie against Silvio! She even tried to throw a big speech but it was cut short almost literally given that Sofie’s blade has pierced her heart. Sofie did wise to behead the horrible woman, you never know can be sure with Molag servants, since some of them just can’t stay dead.
Apparently her way of doing things got some respect from Thrynn and yet they have even more dangerous mission ahead of them, for vampires in the fort along with Thalmor are very dangerous… The team definitely needs to get some rest before they continue. Nelthas concern for Sofie was heartwarming as he watched her sleep. Looks like Sofie and Thrynn will serve as great distraction while Wulver and Nelthas will go ahead in the fort in attempt to save Florentius…
I will look forward for continuation and thank you for sharing your wonderful work!

Thank you very much Nataly and so happy you have enjoyed this story! It got longer than expected but I was enjoying exploring their personalities and relationships as they developed.

I would think any band of adventurers would spend time thinking about what their plans should be, what they expect to find, who is involved, etc. Some day would be nice to write a book so I could really explore things in much more detail. I find it hard to balance sometimes in this medium.

Anyhow the disciple of Molag wasn't really counting on killing them all. She would have been happy with one or two going down. She is very sadistic. Or was. I figure Nelthas would know a lot about poisons, even a necromantic one.

I have more plans in store as you know from our chats as well :) Thanks again for reading!

Why did I suddenly imagine Thrynn just tossing the driver in a room like he's a potato bag.

Turned out to be quite the intense chapter with Sofie falling off the top of the lighthouse. Thankfully Wulver have some tricks up his sleeves (Lets not make bag of trick puns), although that revealed his secret wings to Sofie. A very interesting take on how his wings work too. Its hard to imagine how uncomfortable or painful actual retractable wings would be.

Poor Nelthas just wanted to enjoy some fancy wine but it just had to be poisoned. Its a good thing that he stopped Thrynn from just chugging down the entire goblet to show him some mannerism. He ended up detecting the poison and saved Thrynn from turning into a mindless zombie.

Things are promising to be even more intense with the rescue of Florentius at hand. I understand Nelthas' worry about having Sofie on the front line like that but, she may indeed be safer under Thrynn's watch in that particular situation. He'll have to learn how to trust others a bit more. It'll also be interesting to see Wulver and Nelthas work as a duo.

      Thanks Lia!

I am keeping this adventure very light toned over all. A little excitement here and there. I would think the wings might be a bit like the pain involved with a werewolf transformation. Or maybe its really more ... hmm a materialization thing. Meaning Wulver has a very dense body and the wings materialize as matter is pulled from his body, from his back, to form the wings. In which case it would be quick and painless. That probably makes the most sense as well. Magic of course :)

I figured the daedric worshipper was trying to earn some brownie points by killing them off. Or maybe she suspected they might be from the Dawnguard. They killed her so most likely they will never know at this poin.

      Thanks again!

I don't think the driver would be tempted to drink more if Thrynn shoved him into the room under the threat of a beating HAHAHA
Sofie is really smart and has the knowledge to look a little further. With all the black fog from Molag Bal hanging over Dannee's team the whole time, knowledge is a big advantage to dispel and understand a plan like this involving Florentius.
The history of the lighthouse and the inn is really interesting, but there is something very dark and strange about there! And poor Sofie, took the scare of her life when she fell from that high
Great double discovery about Silvio's evil intentions, first with Wulver and Sofie outside and then with Nelt and Thrynn about poisoned wine. And Sofie is proving very good in combat! And I agree with her, when in doubt, without the head they are harmless HAHAHA
I hope their plan works well, the teams are formed and I'm curious to see what will happen next.
Another great chapter with beautiful images, Jon! Thank you for sharing

Lol That sounds like something Thrynn would do ... but they wanted to stay on the drivers good side overall so he held his temper and just stood guard :)

I have a mod that adds inns and taverns across Skyrim so it was nice to use one of them in the story - and it was the perfect location for it. Originally I was just going to have them camp out in tents but this worked out much better. I had also been planning on Wulver showing his wings to Sofie so instead of a cliff attack the roof worked well since it is a very tall building.

I have all the images done for the next chapter, the rescue/battle, as well as the epilogue. Right now it is just a matter of finishing the writing and publishing ;) Thanks for the comment!

That was a very exciting part that I really enjoyed, Jon.
The staging at Sophie's rescue was wonderful. You could also see Silvio's conspicuous behavior in the pictures.
Well, Sophie still wants to prove herself to Thrynn. So she suppresses the nausea that arises at the end of the fight so as not to compromise herself to Thrynn.
It was nice to read how Nelthas broke the ice with Thrynn.
The inn at the lighthouse is a nice place.

Many thanks Gerd! It got very long so I had to split the chapter up (aye I know ... this is the shorter version lol). I was enjoying the adventure and wanted to fill-out the story around the core plot a bit more.

Chapter 5 will be a bit less text and a bit more images since it is mainly fighting with a little bit of narrative. At least so far lol.

Great chapter Jonathan. I had suspicions about that squirrely servant. Great image work with Sofie falling too!

On a side note, the technical details about Wulver's wings in the story kind of broke the flow for me. It's Skyrim, let it just be magic. I think in the Fallout world all that detail would fit right in due to it being tech based. I do like how you have the lore info in a sticky though, that works as bonus information after reading the story.

Thanks Patrick and enjoyed the feedback. I totally get your point as I know many just want the fun aspect of the story. I am a technical person though and I want even magic to follow a logical path with rules and processes. Otherwise it starts to lose structure and then everything goes as its more magic wishing then a defined magic system. So I can't help myself in these cases in wanting to get into the logic behind the magic.

Even with Grim, who is immune to natural cold and very resistant to magic cold, I research life forms on Earth that can survive below freezing temperatures so I would have some logical foundation behind his ability :)

Magic is a helper that distorts or suspends natural laws in my mind but outside of pure wish fullfillment or a god, I like it operate on some existing rules.

Wow. The plot not only thickened, it erupted into an explosive boil. The analysis of what the Thalmor may do to F was as enjoyable as it was scary. And my favorite part, Sofie was finally able to prove herself in Thrynn's eyes. Oh, loved the Superman style rescue also.

Thanks very much Laird, I enjoyed your comment. I try to think things out logically when I can - to at least seem somewhat plausible even in a world of fantasy. So when I do I sometimes add that into the story as I would think it would be something they would all discuss.

Aye Sofie showed she was capable and just in time since tomorrow they have the rescue and she and Thrynn will be leading the charge.

Many thanks Bob. So happy you have had the time to follow through the whole story this time. I have two chapters left. The battle is next in chapter 5 and then comes the Epilogue, which will be a short wrap-up. I may also do a small lore interlude relating to his planes-walking and death.

Finally putting those wings to some good use, ay Wulver? :P Beside just looking majestic, of course.
Wonderful action shots, not always easy to get right but you nailed it ;)

Thank you Nathan :-) I would still prefer a proper Tiefling tail, like in Pathfinder Kingmaker, but wings are also fun and dramatic. I wasn't going to make them part of his lore but I enjoy them too much so added them. He doesn't use them often as it takes a lot of magic and physical life energy to manifest and use them.

I wish I had your creativity and patience to do more involved shots but for me the writing is my focus so the images I try to do more as props in a play -they set the scene. The writing and imagination have to do the rest. Still glad you enjoyed the images as they were

I had a lot of fun with Sofie and the fall and finally find a way to work his wings into an actual story. I had debated if they would become part of his actual lore and decided that since I enjoy them so much I had to incorporate them. That being said I would still prefer an actual Tiefling tail instead Thank you for the comment Izzy.
