It's great
Some random thoughts from the read. This line was intense in a way for me, "the scales upon his eyes were painted with the colours of the Fatherland." as it made me think of facism, Nazi Germany, and brain washing ... something all to common these days sadly.
A great way to describe Larkspur. Perfect I think. Friend of friends. 3 words that say so much.
Alas poor Alerik. I found it interesting he joined the Greybears. It seems he has found a peace of sorts if not a complete peace. A peace broken now and then like a drop of water that falls from a cave roof into a still pond below to send a ripple every now and then through the quiet.
Great job in designing the daughter. She looks cute there with the wolf and that oufit. I assume Oak Apple, akak Galla, is hte daughter that Alerik is now following. I have to stop here and say ... how hot is Alerik? Seriously hot.

Yumm X 10.
It was indeed sad the fight against the Spriggans. I like them myself and since they are agents of Lorkhan, his servants that help protect the natural world of Nirn, they are natural allies of Grim at least and help him versus attack him. Alas not the case here.
I don't think humans spoil everything. I think *mnay* humans spoil things but there are those who are conscious and mindful of the natural world and help take care of it. Humans are part of nature afterall. Our problem is our hurbis, our arrogance, that thinks we can control and command nature and that we should have dominion over all living things. Instead we should live in harmony with nature, as part of nature versus an external agency that needs to exert control over nature.
I see Alerik did finally visit though. It is unclear to me if Larkspur and Saga died. It suggests that Alerik is now taking care of their daughter - the question is why. Are they alive but want their daughter to travel so asked him to protect her? Yet she has the Redguard. But if they died ... he might feel a duty to protect her regardless.
Hmm always a mystery with Kayol the Philospher, Kayol the Writer.
I always wanted him to seek emotional succor among the Greybeards, maybe even try to follow the way of the Voice. But, since I cannot let go of my old characters (I grew surprisingly close to them, and never wished for that to happen), I had to create a Next Generation of a sort. And it only felt natural to make Lil' Al follow the daughter of his old friends on her journeys. Now I can only hope the characters themselves will show me the right path since I had several different ideas about the stories they can be a part of.
I can, however, confirm that Larkspur and Saga are alive and kicking. I couldn't possibly let them die since I've become a little bit of a literary sap As far as I know, they live in seclusion somewhere where trouble cannot find them (at least for now, har har). As for reasons of Galla's departure - as I said, I have millions of wild ideas, but for now I can definitely say that her parents didn't want her to live in seclusion. Her mother had, after all, and look how she ended up - not only was she the Dragonborn but also half-possessed! Growing up in solitude was no option for her own child.
EDIT: Forgot about the most important thing! Okay, the second most important one, Alerik's hotness still wins.
I'm really happy you liked the "scales in the eyes" bit: you interpreted it exactly as I intended for this passage to be understood. After all, Alerik's own father used to sail through the Sea of Nationalism and Racial Insensitivity. Fortunately, Alerik himself managed only to dip his toes in it before having The Talk with Lark in one story or another.
Thank you ever so much for your comment, GrimJ the Cool Commenter!
Yea Alerik is sexier in not really knowing his sexiness :)
Not much more to be said really, only that I wish I had the determination to pull through chapters like this with my own amateur writing. I often stop after just a few, or they're too damn time-consuming to put up in English. I wish everyone here could read Swedish instead!
A pure joy seeing you around here again, Kayol!
Thank you for your lovely comment - it's good to be around again, I missed Skyrim quite a lot.
Your writing is as always superb and stimulates my fantasy. It´s interesting to know something about the daughter of Saga and Larkspur. I wonder where the scars in her face come from and I´m tensed, if Alerik will follow the invitation ...
Thank you so much for sharing your work again ... I enjoyed it very much
I'm really glad you liked the story; I've felt the need for writing (or, more specific, writing about Skyrim), but didn't have the time. I will try to find it, though - at least to browse through the galleries of all my esteemed Nexus colleagues
Unfortunately, Alerik never answered to the invitation as the letter is from the past (Larkspur wrote to him on Saga's request shortly after the birth of their nestling). But, as you can see, things are better for him now, so who knows? Maybe he'll meet his friends again some day. You never know
Thank you for your comment!
I salute you!
