Just remember that I still support you all and can't wait to find some time to check your works again.
P.S. Sorry for long long response.
The way Kayol feels in the opening reminds me a lot of how clinical depression is often described. In some ways it isn't even about being sad - it is about the loss of emotion. Of not feeling anything. No joy, no happiness, no hate, no love, no sadness. It is a deadness where all meaning and purpose for life fades. Where you feel like a robot or inanimate object. Even finding words to express oneself becomes hard. She seems a little like that when you write about no fear, no happiness or anger. Just a guest. The guest part resonates well with me as I often feel like I exist slightly outside of the world, slightly removed from everyone else, even family, except for my dog. My dog keeps me grounded in this world. But its like being in a bubble and knowing anyday reality could come and pop that bubble. A person behind the looking glass - also reminds me of those who go through great trauma and abuse - to the point they lock themselves away inside their own mind as a defense, a safety measure, and look at everything that happens from a distance.
I probably should not be listening to the dark ambient music I found while reading this :p
Thank you for showing Arnbjorn. The only DB I ever liked really and probably why I made him a good guy in the end, corrupted to a dark path by the twisted ambitions of his wife and slave master, Astrid. Nice shots of all of them you put up here. Also shows how you ended each of them which was great. I admit I enjoyed doing that with Grim, especially Babbette and Ciecero although I know he escaped in your story. I also know Uthgerd and Lydia felt more compassion for them than I certainly do but death comes for all of us in the end and it is what it is - they certainly brought enough other lives to a shorter ending than might have otherwise been.
Anyway...
You really are too kind, my friend. I'm truly touched that you think so highly of my writing - this is the best kind of feedback one can ever receive. Thank you very much for your kind words! I can't really say I consider turning my scribbling into a career, but you thinking I could pull it off gives me a confidence boost - and I really needed that today.
Also, symptoms of depression is what I was aiming at while writing the whole NM angle, so I'm really glad you interpreted it this way. Saga experiences mood switching (or apathy, like in this installment), feels helpless and out of control: I really wanted to describe that feeling of not belonging anywhere, even in your own body, as that is the feeling I know well. And, as I can see from your comment, I'm not the only one.
As for Uthgerd and Lydia - I think that their grief was more connected to the fact that they had to slay people rather than the actual compassion for the assassins. There is always a certain trauma connected with this kind of deed - even if it is an execution, an act of justice, etc. They entered someone's home and slaughtered the inhabitants, and the fact that said inhabitants used to murder for money did not ease the trauma connected with the act.
Anyway, thank you for your comment!
I say it again, I love your dreamlike writing style which plays with the fantasy of the reader. Your use of the language is really wonderful, I like , how you paint pictures with them. This all in a very dark and mystic, very reflective ... I like such a kind of stories. So I enjoyed your masterfully work again.
You should do it not only for the nexus
As I wrote above, you pictures are well done too. I like your colours, your work with shadows and the shades of black
The picture with the nightshade is wonderful and all the portraits and the changes of Saga's face are outstanding
Anyway, I'm overwhelmed by the positive feedback from you, thank you very much!
Truly, I've never seen anything like it. It's like watching a master at work. My only regret is not clicking on the image section when I've visited your profile countless times before, but I really am glad.. I did now. Words are not enough to describe your works, I really wish I could give you more than a single endorsement for taking me along with you on this journey.
Thank you very much for your comment!
The way you described the features of each DB member and how to go about it to kill them, is very spot on. From those descriptionsI liked the argonian best. that is how I would figure it would have taken place,..
Also great imagery in this set,.. again pinpointing very well the personallity's and their current state of mind at the moment.
So,.. all in all very nice images and a great continuation,..
I'm really glad you liked this piece, dear. After a break I felt a bit rusty, so it's good to know the new installment is readable.
As for Uthgerd and Lydia: I think that while a certain amount of loyalty and affection is definitely there, the pragmatism has a lot to do with their decision as well. Uthgerd doesn't want the personification of a great Nord hero publicly disgraced as it would undoubtedly affect her beloved city, while Lydia... well, Lydia lives to serve Thane of Whiterun. So if the task ahead is to remove any evidence of her Thane's connection with some twisted cult, she'll do it. She has a very distorted sense of duty, I think (and that's something I should dig in one day).
Thank you again!
