Well done and thanks for the reminder link about the child of the void. They will teach her but there is no love in the void.

Nice to see the Elf and the Nord getting along, of sorts. The three of them traveling together was when I enjoyed your stories the most - my favorite times with her and her friends. I can recall some really great banter between them all and you wrote Alerik just perfect. It would be nice to see these two again and what they might be up to, if anything, and if there paths will once again cross with the Dragonborn.

Congrats on the degree. It is indeed a nice feeling of accomplishment to get.

Thank you for the kind words, both concerning my BA (OMG I'M STILL EXCITED ABOUT THIS SOMEONE POUR A BUCKET OF WATER ON MY HEAD) and the story!

Yeah, I thought it would be nice to make these two interact more, since they never truly bonded (I don't think Alerik considered Larkspur's constant teasing a bonding process...). Also, I wanted to give them some more attention, since I focus so much on Saga's falling into madness etc.

Thank you again! Your insightful comments are always appreciated.

I read your reply and realized I should be more clear - I enjoy ALL your writing. Just that the three of them, and the banter, was among my top favorites - not my only favorites

I grew up on the lighter "adventure" style of fantasy stories. Oh I read very diverse fantasy, and science-fiction, but my comfort stories, my curl up on a rainy day in my secret corner stories, those were the fun adventure stories. A bit of humor and more casual but also a serious side a times. Nothing that would ever win a writing award though.

I would not be surprised at all, however, if someday you wrote something that won some type of award. Your writing is that good at least IMO.

Aww, stop it, you But seriously, I'm honoured you think so. Thank you!

As a fellow fantasy reader (and reader in general), I see where you come from: I also prefer light-hearted stories to cheer me up or simply make me feel all warm and fuzzy after a tiring day. Or these really, really badly written ones - I love fantasy pulp and I can't help it.
But when it comes to writing, it's a 180-degree turn for me. I have the time of my life while writing sad or depressing stuff. Or scary, but that is super hard to achieve (at least for me). Warm and fuzzy doesn't feel as enjoyable for me, maybe because is tougher to write in general: it easily becomes way to fluffy. I'm up for the challenge, though, as too much sad content is never good

I always admire your ability to blend in a poetic touch with your stories! It's like they are tales roaming through the realm of thoughtfulness and premeditation. I will never achieve that - not in English anyway - but at the same time it's so very inspiring to read something written by you. The words flow like gently streaming water into my mind...

A big congratulation to your degree as well, dear Kayol! I never had any doubt...

This is a masterpiece of storytelling again, what comes with brilliant pictures too....so clear, well-lightened with great angles of view...I enjoyed both very much. Your language is so rich and you described the situation, the thoughts and feelings of Alerik, the drunken, so well, so psychological deep....wow...it's a pleasureThe relationship between the two companions comes out very well and I like, how you started the second line of this story from the perspective of the greybeards....
    Really well done

    Congrats to your degree

You always come up with such clever metaphors and similes in your tales of Saga, I a fond of such things in writing as I am sure you have noticed with my poetic side, I really like how you described Alerik being like a lone sailor without rudder or compass, adrift and lost on the sea that is his thoughts and the haze of drink which he luckily had not yet drowned in. The ever shifting sea does echo well the many different thoughts he was having as well, a great way to bring his state of mind to life and the different drinks being like people perched on his shoulders each whispering to him a different thing to do was great.

I am sure when one gets a taste of adventure as Saga's friends did it is indeed hard not to heed that call, it is nice to see them reach an understanding before Alerik headed off to sleep off the drink. It seems they might see Saga sooner than later if she has finally climbed the many steps of that great peak, ready to learn more of the voice and the dragon blood in her veins, that she has resisted the whispers of the night mother. A very well crafted chapter and I really enjoyed seeing the perspective of Saga's friends

Oh yeah, I think I know what you mean talking about "your poetic side" I'm really glad you found my little trifles with words appealing.

It kind of struck me right now, reading your comment, the part about not drowning in alcohol - Alerik turned out in this piece strangely like a mix of the characters from "Princess Bride", didn't he? Lost alone just like the giant Fezzik, drinking his loneliness away like Inigo. I never knew Goldman influenced me so much. Damn.

Well, I am sure they will meet again. As for the second part of your comment - we shall see
      Thank you again, dear!

Your writing is so remarkable, the parallels made with the different alcohols is very original, and how the mood is settled through them, the tensed friendship between Alerik and the Elf well expressed as a drunk would imagine different things, Alerik is wise enough though to not cross the lines, the Elf being a perfect gentleman for the occasion.

    Beautiful.

Is your degree on literature or any artistry field? And congratulations
