Reboot of an old character, a High Elf (Altmer) barbarian

Aronil of Bruma (a High Elf barbarian) is an old character of mine who I plan to restart from the beginning. (Hopefully the Companions questline won't quit on him this time.)

-- Background --

Aronil's parents were Altmer dissidents who ran afoul of the Thalmor. About ten years before the Great War, they fled Summerset Isle for mainland Tamriel and the Empire. They eventually settled in Bruma, Cyrodiil, where their son Aronil was born on the 16th of Last Seed, 4E 162.

Growing up among the Nords of Bruma, Aronil absorbed a lot of Nordic and Cyrodiilic culture (in addition to some of his parents' Altmer traditions), and he considers himself much more Nord than Altmer in most ways. He came of age during the difficult years after the Great War, helping with the rebuilding of Cyrodiil when he wasn't working for his parents. He served in the Legion for several years in his late teens and early 20s, mostly in Cyrodiil, which included a lot of grunt work for the Engineer Corps on rebuilding projects. He became an adventurer sometime after his enlistment ended, and spent years wandering around the non-Aldmeri parts of Tamriel (including Hammerfell, Morrowind, and parts of the Black Marsh), with the occasional extended stay back home in Bruma. He's been to Skyrim before, but only parts of it (mostly in the south); the continuing civil war -- and the resulting demand for decent sell-swords -- has prompted him to try his luck there again.

Though not terribly religious, Aronil is generally Nordic in his beliefs and philosophy, and he wears an Amulet of Kynareth as a symbol of this. (He'd probably wear a Nordic-style Amulet of Talos instead, in honor of both Nordic and Imperial traditions, if it weren't for the ban.) He shares much of the Stormcloaks' frustrations over the White-Gold Concordat, but he'd rather not give up on the Empire just yet; he believes a united Empire will probably hold out better when the Second Great War eventually comes -- assuming the Empire holds together that long.

Aronil is of normal Altmer height and, like most males in his mother's family, quite muscular for an elf.* His hair is around shoulder-length with a Nord braid on his left side. Growing up in Bruma has made him more cold-tolerant than most Altmer (though not as much as most Nords), and he doesn't like to wear more clothing or armor than necessary. Though he's had female lovers before, he's mostly attracted to other males. Never very interested in magic, he knows only a few low-level flame and healing spells. A barbarian in combat, he prefers two-handed swords and light armor.
