The Extension should add the LML-Folder instead off the DLC-Folder. At the Moment it is only usable for Asi and Scripts, which is good enough for me but not for most.
Any mods that go into the `mods/source/content` folder don't get loaded. I'm not sure why some mods go into it, but I haven't figured out how to disable it.
Vortex determines the deployment directory based on the "mod type." I actually came to this page to kindly suggest they make mod types corresponding to LML & ScriptHook.
At the moment, I am using "ENB" just to designate LML mods in my modlist, but many LML mods are designed to just drag & drop their files inside the "lml" folder, so inside the Vortex mod staging directory I end up adding an "lml" folder & moving the contents into it. (LML mods can be downloaded, installed, & managed using the LML's built-in mod manager, but the deployment methods & enable/disable setting for mods are inferior to Vortex. LML doesn't even remember which mods you enabled last time you deployed. It's honestly not even better than manual file management where you literally drag & drop the mod files into the mod directory.
Anyways, It's odd to me that the extension developer created an ASI mod type ("reddeadredemption2asi") but not one for LML.
Hey MmmSpeciosa - trying to replicate this but not having a pile of luck. Could I unpack each mod, add an LML folder, drag the contents in, repack and manually install, and then just mark each as ENB or Engine Injector so they'll dump to the root directory? If not, would I just dump all my LML-based mods into an LML folder in the staging dir and then they'll deploy with the rest?
@ MmmSpeciosa I know it's been two years, but when you say that you use "ENB" to designate LML mods, what do you mean by that?? I know switching the ASI mods to Engine injector puts them into the root folder, I've created an lml folder for the mods.
this issue is the easy one to solve all you have to do is pre open social club launcher then try and run it. My current issue is vortex tries to launch "red dead online" instead of rdr2 since i bought the full game first and not the separate online that is available I just cant play it modded. launching from steam works but no mods are loaded.
There are a few mods i use that don't currently have a mod manager download version. They are simple though, just an asi and a dat file, however vortex+this plugin are copying them to "mods\source\content\<archiveName>" rather than just copying them to the root folder as expected.
As far as I can tell the only difference between these and other mod archives I've downloaded to vortex is the inclusion of the .dat file.
Do you have any guidance you could/would provide on making these work with the plugin/vortex as expected?
If you'd like one to test with check out: Bounties Expansion I downloaded the archive then manually copied it over to {USERDATA}\Vortex\downloads\reddeadredemption2
Also I was interested in digging into/fixing this myself but it appears the source hasn't been pushed up to the vortex-games github yet.
I realize that I am replying to a year-old thread at this point, but I had the problem and perhaps this reply could help for other people have a similar issue.
I had this problem as well specifically for the mod that you cited. I solved it by changing the Mod Type from "Default" -> "Engine Injector". Once I did that, when I deployed the mod, the files went into the root game directory folder. I don't know the additional ramifications of changing the Mod Type, but it worked for me.
I had given up and have just been managing my mods myself manually, perhaps I will now give the mod manager another go. Thank you very much for the info!
Can you give any more detail as to how to do that? Currently trying to activate this mod as well as "Ambient Gangs" but am having no luck beyond placing them in the game folder. This is my first time modding on a PC, and I'd love to figure this out

Thanks for your time.

Vortex blurb lists RDR2 as a handled game. This is obviously not true. Even this supposed workaround does not work.
