Stupid question; I am just now realizing I have been using an old version of bethani pie (v4.11) How do I update? If I add it as executable to mo2, will I have 2 bethani pie? or can I overwrite it somehow? Also, can you please point me to a youtube video or something on how to best tweak visual and performance settings for fallout 4 pre next gen please? Thanks.
It's not an installed program so you just throw it out.
Grab its folder put it in the Recycle bin. Then go into Mo2 and remove that item from the application menu. Then just install the new one and put the new one in the application menu of Mo2.
As for best tweaks (?!) on graphics and in general you've got to be kidding, there's like a millions things you can do, use the search box on Youtube maybe. Most of the people here are heavily modding, not tweaking. Modding means changing the whole thing with visual upgrades and such. It depends on how strong your system is what type of modding it can handle, but if you want to focus on perfomance then search for a performance optimization guide here. Of course to immediately get better performance regardless of all else you simply have to run it at a lower resolution or with lower graphics settings and that's already in the game settings itself. I personally use High FPS Physics fix and Long Loading times fix. Those are two mods but a performance optimization guide can tell you a lot more too. People who have the strongest computers are probably playing at 4K resolution right now, heavily modded too, but you need a real expensive computer for that, I imagine.
Thanks for the lengthy response. I happen to be starting a new game today or tomorrow with fresh install. Basically, I wish I could get my pc game to look like my xbox version of fallout. My pc should be able to handle it. But when I look at the sliders, I have no idea what I'm doing. Bethani pie is good at explaining some of them, but I'm adhd and new to pc gaming so some of the terms and lingo still go over my head. Plus with bethini pie, there is no way to adjust the sliders in real time in game correct? I tried playing with shadow boost. That has in game sliders and I can see some instant results, but I don't know what's best for my system. When I watch YouTube videos, the person making the video will say something like "put this slider to--x---" but will completely fail to say WHY or what the slider does or show a comparison. Maybe I just haven't found the right video yet. I will keep looking. I play for settlement building as my focus. I don't need 4k world overhauls and such. Maybe just focus on optimization. Oh, and just throwing this out there, at one point my game was looking like ps1. I mean I had no shadows and detail. Turns out it was a "perfect weather" mod I had. I was going crazy trying to figure out why even ultra settings was making my game look like old Playstation 😆
Hi I might be dumb but I start bethini pie with MO2, and after clicking [high] or [ultra] no changes are reflected in the gui. Is this normal or is it likely that I'm missing something?
Currently running full JK's skyrim, populated skyrim, 2k-4k texture, CS + reshade. My FPS increases by 20+ using ultra quality Bethini preset. Thank you for the cool mod
Got this "index out of range" error when configuring Starfield ini files. The log is here. Also got stuck on loading ini files after the latest starfield update.
I have been using version 1.4 without issues but for some reason when I upgraded my pc I lost that version so I downloaded the latest one 1.5 and I have nothing but trouble with it. First of all my game would constant crash at start up, when I uninstalled pie, the game would start but then my character had purple hair due to missing textures, then the mcm had a dollar sign in front so no mods relying on it would work due to a missing text file, then the vault lift and mesh door were invisible, and then to further add insult my character had no body once leaving the vault, just a head and a pip boy.. I have been using the same mod list backed up on external hard drives on GOG version since October last year with no issues which is why I knew this could be the only cause of my problems...To fix the issue i have had to wipe my pc clean of fallout 4 vortex mod staging and download folder and reinstall without pie and it has been fine..so something is not right somewhere...
honestly i find this more satisfying to use than regular fallout or skyrim options....they should hire you and make your mod the basic options menu its so good and so was beth ini
I may, if there is ever found anything of value. The ini files are a non-standard type, so would need significant backend work in order to parse correctly.
The problem is that I haven't seen any ini settings that actually work, besides the ones you can set in the in-game settings. It doesn't seem to have the granularity of control we have in the older games.

Starting bethini directly works fine.
I keep getting a "float division by zero error" and it closes.
Disregard.
