Just to THANK YOU, not only did it work after spending the whole day trying diverse solutions from downloading new softs to installing plugins, but it also lets me keep working with paint.net which is the fastest and most convenient editor for my use. And cherry on the cake, I don't have to crack anything.
    I'm so relieved. :D

Glad to hear it works for you.

Out of curiosity, what version of Paint.NET were you using?
I am asking because this plugin has been installed by default (bundled) with Paint.NET since version 4.2.2, you should not need to install it separately unless you need the latest features.

Damn, I am using paint.net 5.0.9, I guess my parameters were wrong when I was still using paint.net and I got them right just by understanding them through my journey. I want to try to remove your pluggin to confirm that it works without it but I am in the middle of texture editing and I need to keep the program opened for what I am doing, I will edit the message in an hour when I'm done with this project.

That was a long hour I'm sorry... The project took longer than expected and then I had important things to do.

Soooo... yeaaaah.... it worked without the plugin, I'm just dumb. :)

But still, thank you anyway because this made me retry with paint.net.

Just letting you know, Using latest version paint (v 5.0.11,stable 5.11.8685.3093)
and per the settings plugin errors tab, it states error -  DdsFileTypePlus.dll (v1.12.8)

Not sure what that error means because paintnet does seem to load the Starfield (SteamPC v 1.7.36.0) dds files

If you click on the DDSFileTypePlus.dll entry, the error message states that the plugin is built-in to Paint.NET.
This is the expected behavior when Paint.NET's bundled version of the plugin is being used in place of the one in the FileTypes folder.

Hello friend, I'm trying to edit some textures in Resident Evil 5; however, I'm encountering serious issues when saving certain textures in DDS format. This primarily happens with textures like grass, dirt, and so on, where there's a transparent background to allow two textures to occupy the same space, one on top of the other. Yet, when I attempt to save this type of texture in DDS and then enter the game, the textures end up distorted with checkered patterns and various other visual problems.

Furthermore, even when I seemingly manage to save the texture without these visual issues, the transition between the image and the transparent background isn't as smooth as it originally was. Instead, there's a sharp separation between the texture image and the transparent background, creating a pronounced contrast that wasn't present in the original version.

Do you know of any DDS file format or alternative format in which I can save these images without encountering these problems? I'm struggling to find a configuration that allows me to save the images in the same way they were originally.

If the original files are DDS, you can use the texdiag tool to get the format that the file was saved in.
As for the other issues you are encountering, I do not have any idea what could be causing them.
