I'm still getting the steam initialization failed message. I tried with "controlled folder access" being on and off, neither worked. Vortex has never been able to open MMS. I've tried opening with admin, restarting, reinstalling, verifying install files, and making sure I have the right file path. Can anyone post a fix? Looking for tutorials on yt is impossible since mods are a feature in game.
I am a bit of a noob with nexus mods but I can usually get most stuff working and have used this site on many games, however Midnight suns says steam initialization failed when I try to load it, it does it with no mods at all installed. I have pointed it to the J:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Marvel's Midnight SunsMy version of Vortex is 1.8.4 and my steam is the latest Non beta update (I don't know how to actually find my version other than it is not beta), I have just tried the latest beta and still the same issue.I am running windows 11.Any help would be greatly appreciated
It seems there's a typo in the game id for the extension, which is preventing it from launching. However, even after fixing it, I've run into issues from the 2K Launcher that prevents the game from being ran from inside Vortex anyways. You can still use Vortex to manage your mods and simply launch the game directly from Steam as a workaround for now.
I get the same error - steam initialization failed when trying to run Midnight Suns through Vortex, but works fine out of vortex At first, I thought that running outside of vortex did not activate the mods after copying the pak files manually into the ~mod folder that Vortex lists However, it turns out that the Microsoft scanner was blocking updates to the game document folders, and I had also misunderstood how one of the mods worked. So with a bit of work, I got the mods to work, just could not kick off the game from within Vortex.
Summary: Enable doc folder updates in virus tools, use Vortex to get all mods in place, and then launch Midnight Suns once that ~mod folder Vortex lists is filled.

Are there people who are using mods successfully for MMS who can advise on what they're doing right?
