NMM Community Edition is an evolution of the old Nexus Mod Manager, it is still being developed by the same person (and by Squid-box), with the help and support of the NMM community. NMM Community Edition is in no way developed, endorsed or supported by Nexus Mods.
Why NMM CE?
WHY NOT? I used to be an avid gamer and I kept using NMM on a weekly basis to mod my games, when work started getting in the way of my hobbies I really couldn't find the time (and I couldn't be assed) to learn a new mod manager. So I started fixing and adding new game modes/functionalities just for personal use and in my spare time. I noticed that a LOT of people were still downloading the updates I was releasing on GitHub, so I asked myself, why not?
TO EACH HIS OWN I don't like using the other Mod Managers, I think it's like OS's: - you have the incredibly powerful one, but it requires time and dedication - you have the fancy one, where you're free to do whatever they want you to do - and then there's the one, simple, nice, that allows you to do what you want to... sometimes even allowing you to destroy your game installation...
Why should I choose NMM CE?
If you're using the old Nexus Mod Manager then you should really update to NMM CE, what you're using is incredibly outdated and no longer supported by anyone. If you're using another mod manager then just try NMM CE if you don't like the current one, or maybe if NMM CE supports a game the other manager doesn't.
Just keep in mind that NMM CE is not compatible with other mod managers, so if you care about your current mod install setup for a specific game avoid switching mod managers or just be ready to start from scratch.
NMM CE is not dead, I keep adding/fixing stuff based on the feedback provided by its users on Github but mainly on our Discord server.
