Having the same issue with vortex not allowing me to change the location of the exe. I choose the right directory, it switches back to an incorrect folder.

Did anyone ever figure this out? I'd also prefer to use Vortex, but I have the same issue. I dont like doing modding manually in the game folders ._.

The extension has been updated to (hopefully) be properly detecting the correct location now. There was an error in the 'executable' path it was looking for, rather than an error in the path itself (it has always been looking for the correct path). Please let me know if there's any further issues!

Edit: I retract all I said. This plugin works fine. Though, it will not install cook files correctly. Most issues are because  modders do not have proper instructions telling you where to install loose files. I found several files inside my paks folder that belonged in saved/cooked. It is best to download them manually.

Found a workaround for the wrong game location:

    • In Vortex, click 'Dashboard' and find Days Gone. There's a smaller launcher button that says 'Days Gone' and has three dots and a play icon.
    • Click the three dots and select 'Edit'. Now you can see the launcher settings. There's the incorrect Target parameter but you can't edit it. Go back by clicking 'Cancel'.
    • On the right there's a button with plus icon and a text 'Add tool'. Click it and select 'New...'.
    • Now, you need to copy the settings from the first launcher to here, especially the SteamAPPId (you can save and go back if you need to copy from the first one) and change the game location to the folder with the actual DaysGone.exe (should be <Days Gone Steam folder>\BendGame\Binaries\Win64\DaysGone.exe).
    • After that's done, click 'Save'. Now you should be able to start the game with the play icon in this second launcher you made. You can also set that to primary from the three dots so it's used when you start the game normally in Vortex.
    • PS. Remember to also go to your game directory \BendGame\Content and rename the folder sfpaks to sfpakss for the mods to work.

Nothing of your step by step worked for me.

WE BADLY need a step by step video showing how to set vortex up for a working modding experience for Days Gone. Modding this game has been the most irritating modding experience I have ever had! As nothing has worked at all!
...an I mod Skyrim SE, Fallout 4, and Fallout NV regularly! So I know irritating modding! lol

But so far. Not 1 step by step has worked. I tried gamer poets youtube video step by step with the folder an .pak files method. Nadda. ..game refuses to launch.

So after a day fighting that. Gave up an deleted the unpacked .paks files an folder... now game launches again.

Then discovered the vortex method. Tried it with 4 mods I want enabled.. game now launches. But without mods it seems. An yes I renamed the sfpaks to sfpakss. Nadda, still not working. Not sure why mods are not working at all....

      IRRITATING!

This game definitely is harder to mod than those ones in my opinion. Vortex seems to work for any mods that are .pak files.  But some of these mods are something else called "cooked" because they either don't work or end up breaking as .pak and I think that's where most people get confused or give up.

Greetings... I have downloaded and installed Vortex onto my gaming PC, downloaded a few mods from this site via Vortex and all seems to be operating properly... The mods download and Vortex shows them as active, but they do not function in Days Gone... I am launching the game from the Vortex dashboard, the paths are correct, I have renamed the sfpaks folder to sfpakss and the game is running properly, just no mods... I used to use the Nexusmods program extensively for other games in the past, but this is my first time using Vortex...

Any suggestions or tips on how to get the mods functioning properly?

EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out... Vortex does not place the pak files in the proper directory for Days Gone to find when the program launches...

Welp like everyone else here, this mod isn't working. My install location is different from what Vortex thinks and changing it manually does nothing.

Has anyone found a fix for this. Do I have to add it manually and make a another tool? If I do will it actually load the mods Ive deployed? I checked the paks folder and they arent there.
