i bought this through ea origin and everytime i try to add the vortex extension for command and conquer. it wants the clientG.exe, clientlaucherg.exe, tiberiandawn.dll and redalert.dll. i only installed zero hour and generals. do i need to install the other games?

For some reason, Vortex is installing my mods under user/appdata/roaming/vortex/commandandconquerremastered/mods. This is apparently the "Vortex staging folder". I found this out by right-clicking the mod I was trying to install, and choosing "open in file manager". Now, another path to the mods folder I found was under OneDrive/Documents/CnCRemastered/Mods (I can't remember how I found that path). I even tried to install manually to the mods directory, and still they don't show up in the game. I am all confused, and am just about ready to give up trying to install Nexus mods, and just use the Steam mods install process. At least that way actually puts the mods where they are supposed to go, and they show up in game.

That's how Vortex is designed: your mods will be installed into a staging folder (defaults to that location in your AppData folder, but it can be anywhere you like) then when you Deploy Mods, Vortex will "link" those files into your Documents folder where the game should pick them up.

When you say "they don't show up in the game" are they not even in the Mods menu of the main menu?

Correct, they are NOT showing up in game under the Mods menu. The mod I was trying to install was "faster ore growth", not that it matters at this point. Funny thing is that when I first installed Vortex, I remember it saying something about the path to my downloads folder was "incorrect", or "improper", I can't remember how it was worded. I have Vortex installed to another drive, not my system drive; I have the OS, and installed programs on separate drives. I don't know if that has anything to do with this situation or not, but I thought it worth mentioning. Should I uninstall Vortex, and reinstall it on the C:\ drive? That is where the download path is, which I can't understand why the path wouldn't be on the drive I installed Vortex to; it seems like its default is C:\. You know, I can build a computer, but I have trouble with software.

So as a first point: what you're seeing with Faster Ore Growth is actually a bug in my extension. Sorry about that! I hadn't accounted for someone shipping an INI file as an entire mod so that's being installed incorrectly. I'll get that sorted out as soon as I can.

Have you tried installing any other mods? That will tell us if your drive layout is a problem (it shouldn't be, generally speaking).

EDIT: If you really want to play with Faster Ore Growth now, you can double click on it in your Mods list and in the details panel on the right, find the "Mod Type" dropdown and change it to "Red Alert". Deploy Mods and you should see it show up in the menu correctly.

si alguien me lo puede explicar un poco

If you're using a recent version of Vortex, you can automatically install this extension by finding "Command & Conquer Remastered Collection" in your "Games" page and clicking Manage.

I just tested it and it works like a charm. I like that you have detection for TD/RA and are handling tweaks to the rules.ini separately!

Oh, and also, thank you so much for everything you've done in terms of your Vortex extensions and continued support. I have just gifted you Lifetime Premium membership as a thank you from all of us at Nexus Mods. Keep up the awesome work!
