I'm really loving this new set of OC-type characters in Sifu! They really blend into both the game and it's combat (Especially one overhaul mod for it.) Really great stuff!
Really appreciate the kind words. I one hundred percent agree, and may even start to accept more requests soon so that people can enjoy personalizing their games!! As well, I am working on releasing a bare-bones follow-along "tutorial" on how to kitbash enemies from the game together to make your own characters!
Agreed! The mod looks good, and I like the lore-friendly outfits. I feel like the lack of alt. costumes for enemies was a missed oppotunity for Sloclap, though I suppose it's better than them trying to nickel and dime us for DLC cosmetics.
I'm sure it's possible to alter the mesh of the beard in specific phases—but I know zero about that outside of a theoretical standpoint. Your best bet is the Sifu discord!
that can be expected, the game's been out for two years after all! We just have to remember that this isn't a job of any kind, it's people's personal hobbies, so accepting mod requests is generally going to have a low chance of being fruitful. Modding takes hours out of someone's day, for free, so be patience with requests. Ask, give it a few days, ask again. If no one is accepting the request... it's time to put on the modding goggles. >:)
By the way, do you know any good resources on how to make a mod for Sifu, specifically on how to edit the Sifu protagonist's model? I'm assuming the Discord server would be my best bet, right?
The discord I feel is the only place to learn how to properly mod, and honestly the videos and tutorials currently out aren't too beginner friendly—the entire process can feel a bit convoluted with how deep the filetrees go. You're expected to have some understanding of the programs, or else you'll rip your hair out like I did. That's why I recommend having someone who can lead you through the process and help where you get stuck, and once you understand the process it's actually quite straightforward and rewarding. Some of the mods like the Arkham Batman skin are just next level.
Musicophile reminded me to do one step at a time, so in your case I would find some help in simply putting a model into the game. Then learn one more thing, applying a texture. Then another. Don't get overwhelmed, but don't be afraid to just dive in. So worth it!!
Also don't worry, I'm no stranger to modding and how hard it can be lol. I'm sure I'll figure it out. I've already asked some stuff on the server relating to it, and there's a lot of helpful resources there in general to modding processes with the game too
Good luck, and don't hesitate to send me a PM if you need a guide, I can help whenever I get a spot of time free. We've already got messages on discord :)
and looking into this currently, I really wanna add these as outfits in the wardrobe, but I haven't figured out the code yet, as it's tricky and I am super new to all this. Any pointers or direction would be greatly appreciated too
i also have original character that i wish to be put on sifu mod skins. Reason was because of seeing many variant characters mods in it. So i thought why didn't i make my own character fighters to be put mod on that game. However due to i was inexperience of making 3d model and mods, i can only making own characters model by drawing the concept art using digital paint.
Appearance: Brown Hairstyle Brown Eyes Color Black Short Sleeve Spandex Shirt (inside) White T-shirt (outside) Short Brown Hairstyle Leather Tactical Gloves Black Leather Short Cargo Pants Punk Chain Accessories on Pants Black Leather Boots
For inspiration i took references from childhood game and anime, like: Yugo Ogami Bloody Roar 4 Sie Kensou King of Fighter XI Akira Udo from Air Gear Anime Ginji Amano from Get Backers Anime Usui Horokeu from Shaman King Anime
Looks great man!!! I've been considering making some male models actually, for practice—since I know it's the exact same process as makin gals. Keep an eye out: I will add this to my things-to-do! Everyone deserves an OC. >:)
