Hello everyone, lately I'm having trouble installing mods in the Documents/Sid Meier's Pirates/custom folder.
As instructed I extracted all the mod files within the custom folder but after repeated restarts the mod does not appear and is not read, everything is as before, especially for files . Fpk
I had to download a fpk file extractor (http://www.civfanatics.net/downloads/civ4/utility/PakBuild.zip) and unpack the files and get the textures before placing those extracted textures back in the custom folder. I did that for all the fpk files, I hope this helps someone out.
In addition to extracting the "Character HD" folder and files into the "custom" folder in the game installation folder, extracting the HD folder and files into the "custom" folder in the USER FOLDER or SAVE GAME FOLDER also works.
i.e., typically "C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Pirates!\custom" in Windows 10.
Which is probably better for organization purpose, to separate mods and user files from the game's core installation location.
I installed the mod as instructed, extracting the files into the custom folder in the game directory but it doesn't seem to be working. I have the steam version of the game. Any ideas on what I am missing? Thanks.
You seem to have installed the mod properly. Unfortunately, I currently do not have the possibility to try in game to see what cause it. Only thing I can think of is maybe the file date matters, and newer one are loaded over the older. Since you seem to have installed the game after I released this mod, maybe they are not loaded over the original FPK that have an ulterior date.
I will try to ask on Pirates modding forum hookedonpirates.
Thank you for reply. Sorry but I was a bit busy lately. I tried to mess with the file dates, but it didn't help. When I have a little more time, I'll try to figure this out as well. No matter how hard the computer wants me to fail, I won't give up that easy :) Thanks for trying to help.
Thanks for this mod! Along with an ini edit and using Borderless Gaming, this game will look brilliant!
For those that want decent settings at 1080p: I just set my "WindowWidth = 1920" and "WindowHeight = 1440", and "Fullscreen = 0" in my Config.ini in "\Documents\my games\Sid Meier's Pirates!\", then added the game to Borderless Gaming after Launching it. This fixes the cut off UI issues, though it bugs your mouse in menus so it's best to just use your keyboard for those moments. The rest of the time it seems to work perfectly fine.
I just wanted to contribute a little that may help your mod users :)
That ini change was one of the first thing I tried when I got back to the game, but it cause ctd at start for me, so I did not recommended it on the mod page. Glad that it work for some !

Did any of you solve this problem? Solutions?

Or do the graphic files in the "Character HD" folder go straight into the custom folder?
EDIT/UPDATE: Nevermind, found out through experimentation that either way (with or without the "Character HD" sub-folder) would work.
