Okay, there's still some bugged behavior when using a Proficiency Potion on a companion: the companion's inventory will become inaccessible and "fake invisible." Also, rightclicking the potion doesn't actually remove it from inventory.
Exactly the steps to reproduce:
1: Put a Proficiency Potion in a Companion's inventory. 2: (For illustration purposes): Put something else in that companion's inventory, some cheap armor or whatever. 3: Rightclick the Prof. Pot. (Prof Pot? That make it sound like you're smoking weed with a tenured '60s-era philosopher) in the companion's inventory. 4: Note that nothing immediately happens to the inventory itself. 4a: If you jam rightclick on the Prof-Pot, you can get its benefit an indeterminate number of times but greater than one at least. 5: Try to put another item in the companion's inventory. Note that the inventory goes blank immediately, and you cannot put things into their inventory anymore. Even though you probably do have space to do so. This also happens if you tab over to another character's inventory. 6: Save and load your game to regain access to companion inventory.
Bonus Round: The actual Proficient Potions are not consumed! So I can feed my companions a dozen chugs of one Professor Pot and they'll still be in their inventory after the save/load cycle!
This makes me suspect that whatever fuckery is going on, adding attribute/skill points to a companion is somehow involved.
Bonus Round 2: I tried to add one of my companion's swords to her inventory to see if it would add in, and it did - but it didn't take the item from my cursor, or seemingly update her inventory. As a consequence this is also an item duplication bug now.
It's actually really easy... the hardest part is setting up the build environment in Visual Studio. Once you have it set up, it's just a matter of learning how harmony lib works and patching methods.
These potions do not like to stick around after a save/load cycle. And they cause a weird bug where sometimes a follower's inventory will appear empty. It's not empty, but nothing is appearing in it.
When the mod is feeling cooperative though, everything is fine!
Put this one on today to try it out. Tries a proficiency potion on one of my followers, potion worked fine except it wiped out her inventory, did some experimenting and it seems that when you reload the game all is back.
Use potion - inventory vanish - save game - reload game - all back.
Seems when you mod is to clear the potion out of the inventory it not only clears that but every thing else as well. Not game to try any other of your potions.

Is it particularly hard to get into SWPT to mod it? I'd like to take a crack at a mod or two myself - just some number changes, mainly to equipment.
