    Greetings! We are proud to offer you some sample alpha gameplay of Rust: Act 1, Welcome Home!* This is approximately 20 minutes of gameplay of what we hope will be one of the top-tier UGC for Shadowrun Returns.
    Our goal with this release is to give the community a sample of the missions we are trying to build, and to get honest and constructive feedback from the community.
    This build includes 4 scenes in the setting of Rust, a crumbling, dystopian city-scape that represents some of the worst aspects of the Shadowrun setting. Feedback on the general setting, its mood and feel, and ways to further immerse the player in this bleak, ruined environment is most welcome.
    With regards to gameplay, please do everything you can to break this build. This is our first attempt at Shadowrun UGC, and for a few of us our first stab at level building at all, so please point out what mistakes we are making and ways to improve the quality of the experience.
    We are working furiously on completing Act 1 by the end of the month, and releasing what will probably be the final beta before the ‘official’ release. Your feedback will be most helpful in polishing the final release of this UGC. Our goal for the final Act 1 build is to have one hour of fully realized gameplay, with all aspects of what you except out of a Shadowrun Returns storyline, incorporating a dynamic story across multiple environments, side missions, and vendors.
    We would like to thank Harebrained Schemes for giving us an excellent game to play and mod, the Steam platform for hosting the UGC, the Shadowrun Returns Wiki, the pros in the SRR irc modding channel, and most of all we want to thank anyone and everyone who takes time to enjoy our UGC. We want to tell Shadowrun stories and we can’t do that without a great audience!

    *Note: This is intended for players who have completed Dead Man’s switch. It is recommended you import an existing player character instead of creating a new one, as we have limited gear drops and vendors in this build. If you still decide to create a new character, make sure they can handle a shotgun.

      Thanks for stopping by! There has been some discussion of doing a new SRR project in the new year. We will keep you posted.

    You know, I actually managed to pull through the mod without too much trouble, even the so-called Cutter Champion went down like a sack of potatoes after I popped a few shotgun rounds on him. But I was a Troll Street Sam with almost maxed out combat skills, I can't see how a non-combat oriented character like a Shaman, a Rigger or especially a Decker would be able to do this, just my thoughts... :X

    It looks nice, but what shall I do with the first fight after the strange man is giving me weapons without being able to equip them (the weapons are going straight to the stash)? I had bought lots in shotgun but with no equipped weapon, the first fight seems pretty pointless.

    What would happen if I constructed a mage, shaman or a rigger?

      Thanks for your feedback. This build is really meant for an imported geared character, but we are working on having it so you can equip any class with the basics at the start of the mission.

      You can equip the gear the old man gives you, you have to press revert once the inventory screen opens and it will populate the items in the stash.

      Cheers! When I tried the shotgun, I couldn't use any of the combat maneuvers. Add to this that combat is really hard (I'm playing at Very Hard) and that you got three fights (four with the trolls) right after each other. I don't know how it's possible to even win against the boss and all it's mooks, and I'm usually doing solo runs in DMS and all the UGCs. At least without having to to maximize Dodge and Ranged Combat (Right now, I got five in both).

      On the positive side. I really like the work with the map.

      Yeah the difficulty curve is something we are still working on. It's one of the reasons we threw this build up early on. We tried to at least load the map up with heals but I can see how it could suck on very hard.

    Also - having trouble uploading to steam. We are new to the nexus site - please let us know if the ugc or our upload process is borked.
