Ok peeps, I'm going to try to help you guys out if I can. Installing mods can be tricky, but if you are savvy and are used to manipulate files in your rig it shouldn't be difficult to figure it out. Don't get frustrated with the Mod creator(s), this site exists because of them. If you are here it's often assumed you know what you are doing. I know it's not always the case, but please be thankful we even have a mod to play with as they take a tremendous amount of time (we are talking days) to create and to get them to work. They are FREE, and we should be thankful for their generosity to share it with us.
Installation (Steam Version) - **USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK**:
*** ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR ORIGINAL GAME FILES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO MODIFY THEM ***
1. You will need to install Special K into your game before this mod (and many other mods) can work. - Download it from the Steam Community Forum - Here - Extract the downloaded file onto a folder in your desk then drag the extracted files (2 files & 1 folder) onto your SOTTR folder (same place as your SOTTR.exe - ~/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Shadow of the Tomb Raider) - Start the game as normal. - Once the game menu opens, select "Options" ***IMPORTANT*** (do NOT select start) - A Shadow of the Tomb Raider Setup window will open - In the Display Tab - uncheck the box for "DirectX12" ***IMPORTANT*** (most mods won't work with DirectX12) - In the Graphics Tab - make sure "Texture Quality" is set to High or Ultra (some mods require Ultra) - Once changes have been made, select OK to close - Now start your game as normal - You should see the Special K initializing bar at the top of your screen if you installed Special K correctly! (to access it: CTRL+SHIFT+BACKSPACE) - Once everything has been initialized and finished loading you can exit the game (no need to start playing the game, you are just setting the game to be able to use Mods)
2. Download the Mod you want to use (in this case, Lara Jungle Shorts version 1) - Download and extract the files onto your desktop (the extracted file should be a "SK_Res folder") - Drag and drop the "SK_Res" folder onto your game directory (where SOTTR.exe is located) - Download and extract Jungle Shorts version 2 onto your desktop or folder (you should have 6 extracted folders - 1 Top folder and 5 different Shorts color folders) - You can ONLY use one short color and one top color at a time! - This is the tricky part!!! To load your desired outfit you will need to manually manipulate the files from the extracted Mod into the SK_Res folder (already in your game directory from the step above). - For example: If you choose Black Jungle Shorts, copy the SK_Res file from Black Jungle Shorts folder and drop it into your game directory to overwrite it. If that doesn't work, go into the Black Short Folder and copy and drag the individual files into the "texture folder" (.dds files) located inside of your SK_Res folder in your game directory. To have both top and bottom you will need to manipulate the .dds files from both the Shorts & Top folders into the texture folder inside your SK_Res game directory. To switch colors is basically rinse and repeat. It's a lot of file manipulation, so PAY ATTENTION!
3. What if I break the game? - If you mess up and or break the game, go back to your Steam Screen, right-click on the game, select "properties", select "Installed Files", then select "Verify integrity of game files". This will restore your game original files. - To uninstall Special K, simply remove the 3 items (2 files & 1 folder) you installed from the first step! - To uninstall the Mod, delete the SK_Res folder
I believe this covers the Installation process. I can't guarantee the mod will work for you and as always, there are risks when manipulating files, so use this guide at your own risk! When in doubt . . . BACKUP your files BEFORE manipulating them!!
Literally all I want from a SOTR mod is her black tanktop and some shorts. Really don't understand why this hasn't been done yet. No idea how to do it myself.
If anyone's having my problem, turns out you need to download v2. This'll allow you to view the files for any given color of shorts, as well as the red or blue top. Simply drop the files for your preferred colors to the folder and it should overwrite.
so i moved the files to the folder, i have special k installed. its not working. is this for the default outfit or do i have to change to another costume
