This mod allows you to resurrect/revive and therefore rematch minibosses that you've already defeated, by adding a new menu option at every sculptor idol.

I really wanted this functionality in my game without having to install an overhaul mod, so I ended up implementing it myself.

If you don't see the "Resurrect Minibosses" option at the Dilapidated Temple idol: simply scroll past the last entry (or up from the first). There's no visual indication that you can scroll past the currently visible entries, but it's possible to do.

Notes about certain minibosses:
  • The Armored Warrior can go outside his bridge if resurrected, but he won't fall to his death anywhere else.
  • The Chained Ogre in the Ashina Outskirts will get pretty much destroyed by the ministry soldiers, if resurrected in the end-game. He won't be able to die from them though, as you are required to inflict 2 death blows on him.
  • With version 2.1.0+, you can finally always have access to the 3 minibosses that previously became unreachable after certain story events: Leader Shigenori Yamauchi, Seven Ashina Spears - Shikibu Toshikatsu Yamauchi and the Blazing Bull.

🌍 Currently supported languages:
  • English
  • Italian
  • Thai
  • Chinese
If you'd like the mod in another language write me a comment here and I'll see what I can do. I might end up asking you to translate it for me (let's not trust google translate for this). If you use the mod with one of the unsupported languages, the mod's own text entries will show up in English.

Version 2.1 improvement:

When you resurrect a miniboss, or try to do it to one that was already resurrected, the mod will ask you if you want to travel to their location. If you say "yes", you will, you guessed it, be teleported there.
I've chosen spots that don't aggro the miniboss (or any other enemy) as soon as you spawn, so if there's the possibility of getting a stealth death blow, you have that option too.
In almost all, if not all cases, the lesser enemies that are normally present in a miniboss area will be there for resurrected minibosses too, unless the progression of the story would normally make them disappear (example: during the first and second invasion, the soldiers hearing the speech of General Kuranosuke Matsumoto in the Ashina Castle won't be there anymore).

I've included an optional file that makes it so that if you teleport to a miniboss with the mod, if you die you will spawn in that same spot instead of at the last communed idol, to retry the fight more quickly. Do note that in that case, if you use the Homeward Idol and choose "last communed idol" you will travel back to that spot instead of to the actual last idol you've communed with.

Version 2 improvements:

  • You can now resurrect any miniboss you've defeated or skipped, regardless of story progression. Note: you can't use this mod to recover lost prayer beads.
  • Minibosses that used to have fog walls to prevent progression won't have them anymore if resurrected. Resurrecting the Mist Noble also won't prevent you from proceeding past his area (normally there's a wall blocking the passage, as long as he's alive).
  • Resurrected minibosses now don't drop any Sen or Exp anymore. They do still drop Spirit Emblems.

Possible future improvements:

  • After defeating a miniboss, ask the player if he wants to repeat the fight right away, thus re-resurrecting the miniboss and re-teleporting the player to the initial spot for the fight.
I have no ETA for this feature. If anyone's actually interested in it, tell me in the comments and I'll look into it.

Installation

With Mod Engine:
  • Follow Mod Engine's own installation instructions
  • Take the two directories included in the mod's zip file and put them in Mod Engine's mods directory (you may have changed it during installation, but by default it's called "mods" and it's in the game's directory, of course)

With UXM:
  • Open UXM
  • Browse to the game's executable (by default it's in   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sekiro   )
  • Click on "Unpack"
  • Let it finish, it can take a while
  • Click on "Patch"
  • Take the two directories included in the mod's zip file and put them in the game's directory (the same one of the executable), overwriting files when asked.

Note: inside the "msg" directory of the mod there are sub-directories for all the available languages (but they all contain the English translation except for the Italian, Chinese and Thai ones). You can leave behind all except the one for the language you actually use, if you want.

Uninstallation

With Mod Engine:
  • Delete from Mod Engine's mods directory all the files included in the mod's zip.

With UXM:
  • Delete from the game's directory all the files included in the mod's zip.
  • Open UXM.
  • Click on "Unpack". Only these files will be unpacked, it won't unpack all the game's assets again.

Compatibility

This mod is compatible with any other that doesn't include the same files it does.

Acknowledgements

Special thanks to thefifthmatt, for giving me the pointers to how to make the mod and for making the fundamental ESDTool program that's used to edit scripts in the first place.
I also have to thank the authors of DSMapStudio and Yabber - two other programs without which making this mod would have been impossible for me - and the other people who helped me back at the Souls Modding and The Grand Archives discord servers, especially Dasaav and george/kingbore.

Thanks to Lnent for providing the Thai translation and to GengarAsuka for the Chinese one.
