Hey All, unfortunately I have moved onto other things and won't be updating this mod anymore. Apologies to anyone who was waiting for an update.

For those who are having issues with the rune slot try changing the controller binding in the options if it still happens then you'll have to just toggle it to always on while customizing I don't believe the controller has enough bindings to manage other keys for this. I might come back in the future maybe to fix some bugs but its very unlikely.

Sorry again everyone, I'm glad you enjoyed the mod and glad I could offer something very positive to this game. Thank you for making my first time publicly modding a positive one as well!

I have uploaded the code to the GitHub if anyone else wishes to tidy up / fix any issues.

Just did this for Dec 2024

    • Installed RF5Fix version 1.4 (comes with BepinEx, didn't need to do a solo download.) (Follow instructions for installing on github. https://github.com/Lyall/RF5Fix/releases)

    • I Ran the game from .exe once and not the launcher file, once.

    • Save and Exit the Game

    • Extracted the Mod's folder contents (Not the folder itself.) to the main game folder. The mod will have folders and files you should be able to visually match up (winhttp.dll, "mono" folder, "BepinEx" folder etc) to files that already exist in the game's directory after you've done the first start and exit with the .exe

    • I launched the game and confirmed the mod was working.

    • Saved and exited the game

    • I returned to the game directory path (Rune Factory 5\BepInEx\config) and edited the "BetterFurniturePlacementMod.cfg" with notpad++. Changed the value of line 9 in "always ignore placement collision" from "false" to "true". Saved the file, exited notepad and launched the game

    • Then, I was able to use RB on my controller to use the grid placement for precision, and then when I wanted to place, I'd keep the character in place, let go of RB, and hit A to place. If you keep RB pressed and try to hit A, it doesn't seem to work. This was my experience. It may work for you because of X reason, but with no official support, it's anyone's guess.

All this was an educated setup guess from all the helpful posts on this mod. Thank you all!

Note: I'm only using this mod for Furniture placement and no other mods. So I can't comment if it would still work if other mods are installed.

Just use the config menu from bepinex. That way you can enable it easily. Usually it is F1 to show. But you need the configuration menu as a plugin

I finally got it working by:

(maybe be able to skip step 1 since RF5Fix mod has all the files for beplnex but was too lazy to check after getting it working)
    1) Installing BepInEx 5.4.2.1

    2) Installing older version of RF5Fix ( v0.1.4 NOT v0.1.5

    3) Then install the mod as normal. I just replaced files for all steps just quickly trying different methods so there maybe a quicker way but if it works it works LOL

I retested my method and it worked but the bepinex window isn't launching with the game but mods are still working it seems since new config files was added and RF5Fix skipped the intro scenes still lol.

( Replacing or skipping files when using RF5Fix v0.1.5 caused BeplnEx/game to just not open at all or an error where no plugins are loaded. Hope this helps anyone in 2024 who's having issues since this mod is not getting updated nor taken over by anyone else atm.)

I have no idea what I'm doing and I only got this to work by brute force, so keep that in mind if it doesnt work. XD

Hi, I followed your steps to download BeplnEx and RF5Fix v0.1.4, but the game cannot launch.
Do you know how to solve it? I've never used BeplnEX, it's so difficult for me.😭

What's that for a s#*!? The mod hasn't worked since the main quest "The Hunt for Oswald". It shows that you can place items, but hammering on X has no effect - it doesn't work anymore! When I start a new game and test it on the wardrobe, it works perfectly, which suggests a bug in the course of progressing with the main quest.

Any idea how to get the Config file to show up. I just have core and plugins in bepinex. I've tried launching the game from both the launchers in folder and through steam. I've already disabled the launcher. I've tried removing the folders and reextracting since disabling launcher. And nothing. Nothing seems to run whatever adds the config and other folders. Any ideas?

For those who can't get mods to work, follow this:

Download BepInEx 5.4.2.1, throw files in your game folder.

    Download RF5Fix

Start game once through Rune Factory 5.exe, not the launcher, go to menu and close.

Put your mods plugins into BepInEx/plugins.

Start again and be happy, always start the game through RF5.exe, not the launcher, you can configure it on Steam if you want, through the game's proprities.

      I have been struggling

I have the plugins inside of common\Rune Factory 5\BepInEx\plugins
Should they be in folders or just the .dll file? I have been troubleshooting for hours these last few days and have only managed to get this to work once, somehow breaking all other mods, and then this mod's not working once I get those together.

When I extract, it creates a folder with the contents inside. Do I move the folder to plugins or take the contained files out and agree to replace the existing files when prompted?

I have been so confused and losing play time 😭 I've never used BepInEx before and feel like an utter fool for not understanding the instructions...

I'm using RF5Fix v1.5 and the mod only works if I reinstall BepInEx. Which is fine but it takes away my motion smoothing. Does anyone know of a way to turn it back on?

THANK YOU FOR THIS MOD! I used https://github.com/Lyall/RF5Fix/releases  RF5Fix version 1.4, dragged the furniture replacement plugin into the \BepInEx\plugins folder and it worked! Make sure to start the game by running the .exe in the directory :)

I always started the game using the exe, but the BepInEx suddenly stopped working.
And without it the mod also stopped working. I don't know what went wrong as no reinstall of BepInEx can fix it (recreate all the files and folders).

Guess I'm stuck with the ugly placements now. Well could be worse...

what mena the : # Setting type: Boolean?

Hi friend. The line     # Setting type: Boolean    is an information line. The # symbol means it is not a command but a comment (or an instruction FOR YOU or a label to tell you what things do)  In this case it tells you that the setting type that you will change below(the part that is not preceded by the # symbol) is of type Boolean. Boolean means it can only have 2 values, either 1  or 0  or in this case either True or False.

      Hope that answers your question!

For anyone who have issue with the mod, try change the value of always ignore to true. The issue probably have something to do with extra rune slot directive.

Thank you, I was scratching my head why the mod stopped working after a while. I had gotten bonus slot then done a few story missions and went to remake my crafting area and nothing would set down.

Absolutely based, this is the easiest fix for those using controllers (getting your extra rune slots is why this mod would stop working, as it also utilizes the right-shoulder button).

For anyone stuck, you can find the config file under: steamapps\common\Rune Factory 5\BepInEx\config

Open BetterFurniturePlacementMod.cfg to change the settings, and remember to SAVE them. Best done when the game isn't running.

I got it to working by completely removing the "BepInEx" and "mono" -folders, and then re-extracting the BetterFurniturePlacementMod 0.4-2-0-4.7z and then running the game with the launcher disabled (tick the box OFF on the launcher's UI that makes it show up).

After that, I re-extracted the RF5fix etc. other mods I have and it works fine now.

It might be something that BepInEx somehow breaks compltely and leaves something behind when ran with launcher on, and requires complete deletion after that.

I don't suppose anyone managed to fix this by now? I have the same problem as luxlunar. It worked for a second and just didn't when I restarted the game.

      Also there's no CFG.
