Hey, I just saw that you shelved this mod a while ago but I'm still using it because of the convenience of releasing multiple animals a day and releasing baby animals, which Grob doesn't let you do. It seems to be incompatible with the new animals (dodos and mouflons) added in the 1.3 update, no errors, the release interaction just does nothing. I'm guessing this is due to the mod overwriting that functionality and the behavior for those animals being undefined. Any interest in updating this for the new version? Alternatively I could have a go at it if you don't feel like updating and you're comfortable sharing your code :-)
OK, I'm shelving this mod, as the vanilla game now offers the ability to get meat from slaughtering animals. If there is a change to be made in this system, I'll upload a new mod that changes it.

Sadly gives me 50 meat no matter what animal I release. Only Red meat. White meat seems to work. Exception: Failed to draw setting "Meat max" (input string was not in a correct format)
Plus the "Poof" throws an NullReferenceException - though it seems to work.
Edit: Meat was correct on pets (wolf, lion) as of now. Did change the config by hand though editing all meat min / max.
I don't know if you are aware, but released animals can be found again in the wild Would it now not be possible to release them and then invite them again over and over to generate infinite meat ?
Ok, was not aware of that. So yes, you could do that... I'm releasing a new version that removes the friendship from the animal, requiring you to start from scratch with it after releasing it. You can still find it in the wild, with the name you gave it, though... I'll fix that if enough people are bothered by it.
Actually, I think if you can make a version where the animal disappears from the wild, people might like that? Because a lot of people are having a hard time finding rare/legendary animals because the wild is full of animals they have released. Maybe this would help? Idk if that's something you can do, but it if it is, maybe an optional version?

Done. You can now "release" an animal into the void. Tested with a couple of mine, and they no longer showed in the herd. Just a heads up, the option is turned on in the mod, as it is the one that makes the most sense with the releasing for meat. But you can turn it off at any time from the config file.
Sorry to bother you again, do you think its possible to make it give less meat? It feels a bit OP getting 36 meat from 1 boar haha. Its OK if you don't want to, just figured I could ask :) Loving the mod otherwise!👍Endorsed
I'll do you one better, All drops are added to the config. New version has not only meat, but also bone and feathers, furs and horns as drops. You can now pick and choose which items drop or not, and int what quantity. Some liberties had to be taken to allow bunnies and mammoths to drop fur, as I have yet to be able to add new items into the game.
The drops are halved for child animals and doubled for animals at lv10 friendship, so take that in mind when setting the new values.

Set to 30 / 65 (min / max) releasing gave me 100.
