About this mod
Without you needing to leave your house. We buy low and sell high: everything,
It’s like robbery, but you thank us for it!

Mod Installation Agreement
By installing this mod, you hereby agree to sell your valuable goods to us for laughably low prices, and buy our wares at absurdly inflated rates. We don’t care how charming you are, or how fearsome your army is, all customers are treated with equally poor service.
Capitalism thanks you for your continued cooperation.
How to install this madness:
- Download this mod.
- Extract the zip file (yes, we still use zip in this economy).
- Move the extracted folder to your RimWorld "Mods" directory.
- Open RimWorld, go to the mod manager, and enable the "Workbench Merchant" mod.
- Don’t forget to save your mod configuration, because even tyranny needs proper load order.
How to access us? (or: how we’ll scam you):
- First, research Microelectronics, because advanced exploitation requires basic science.
- Then, build the Workbench Merchant from the Architect menu under Production.
- Once you've heroically constructed the most overengineered table in gaming history, don’t forget to connect the workbench to a power source (somehow, it requires electricity for reasons no one fully understands.)
How to Sell Items (or: How to willingly part with your stuff):
- Open the Bill menu in the Workbench Merchant.
- Select "Sell selected item (x1)" (or x10, if you're feeling generous and want to sell 10 items at once).
- Open the details menu, then filter the items you want to sell, choose wisely, it's your stuff after all.
- Your pawn will place the item to be sold on the Workbench. We know, it's like magic, but with more manual labor.
- Our advanced machinery will automatically analyze the item based on our highly accurate database, and teleport the item straight to us. In return, we’ll teleport the silver to you, because we’re efficient like that.
How to Buy Items (or: How to hand over your silver and pray we don’t mess it up):
Buying is basically like selling, except this time, you're paying us to disappoint you:
- Open the Bill menu in the Workbench Merchant.
- Select "Buy selected item (x1)" (or x10, if you're on a mission to bankrupt yourself faster).
- Open the details menu, then pick the item you think your colony needs
- Due to unfounded complaints that “the item received wasn’t the item ordered”, we now require customers to scan the exact item they want. That’s right, you do the work.
- Our all-knowing, all-judging machine will then analyze the scanned item using our flawless and completely unbiased corporate database.
- The system will teleport the exact amount of silver from your colony, regardless of where you’ve hidden it.
- Once we’re paid (because, of course, that comes first), we’ll graciously teleport the requested item to your Workbench. Probably.
Known Issues (Yes, There Are Some. Of Course.)
Yes, the item is there. It's in your stockpile, nice and tidy, in perfect condition, but if it's a minified building (like a sculpture), they’ll simply ignore it. The recipe menu will cheerfully inform you that “no items match the criteria,” despite the very obvious presence of the item. It's like the game just decided it doesn’t count, for reasons only it understands.
Why does this happen? I honestly don’t know. I’m still trying to figure it out. I’ve also looked for mods that allow minified buildings to be used as recipe ingredients, but so far, no luck.
Fixes in V1.1 :
- After what feels like forever, I’ve finally managed to fix the stackable vs. non-stackable item issue.
- Since no one else is processing "building", guess I won't be doing it either, check Known Issues for the full story.
- Trading items below 1 silver? Yeah, that’s just an exploit to get free stuff, not happening.
F.A.Q. (Frequently Avoided Questions)
Q1: What items can be sold or bought using this device?
A1: Practically everything, except corpses. (Due to ethical concerns, we regret to inform you that we do not trade corpses. We have standards... sort of.)
Also, to maintain the illusion of credibility, we will not buy anything you haven’t scanned. If you didn’t scan it, we pretend it doesn’t exist.
Q2: What's the buy/sell price rate in this mod?
A2: Normally, with a pawn that has 0 Social skill, buying costs you 140%, and selling gives you 60%.
With this mod : Buying is a flat 400%, and selling gives you a generous 25%. No, Social skills don’t matter; you're trading with a computer, not sweet-talking a merchant.
Q3: Is there a way to change the buy price rate and sell price rate?
A3: According to classified reports, a few clever “hackers” have infiltrated the game files and uncovered the secret vault hidden in
RimWorld\Mods\Workbench Merchant\Defs\RecipeDefs
. There, they tampered with BuyItemRecipe.xml and SellItemRecipe.xml, altering <BuyPriceMultiplier>4.0</BuyPriceMultiplier>
to a more reasonable <BuyPriceMultiplier>1.4</BuyPriceMultiplier>
, and <SellPriceMultiplier>0.25</SellPriceMultiplier>
to a more reasonable <SellPriceMultiplier>0.6</SellPriceMultiplier>
.Q4: Is this mod truly safe to use on saved or loaded games, or are we just pretending it is?
A4: Oh, of course! It only adds a workbench, nothing that could possibly go wrong, right? But just to be extra cautious (because who doesn’t love a little paranoia?), if you ever feel the urge to remove this life-changing mod, make sure to carefully delete all the workbenches added by this mod first. Better safe than sorry... or, you know, just completely ruining your save file.
Q5: Is this mod cheating?
A5: If you feel like you're being robbed or ripped off while using this mod, then sure, this mod is cheating you.
On the other side, depending on your perspective, you could see this mod as cheating.
Q6: Why do the graphics look so bad?
A6: Aside from my complete lack of artistic skill, I wasn’t paid a single cent to make this mod. You get what you pay for, and in this case, you paid nothing.
(If you’re interested in creating better graphics, feel free to send them over. However, please note that besides credit, no other compensation will be provided, as this mod is an unpaid project.)
