I don't have DS4 nor am I on Windows. As a steam deck player, how can I install this without DS4 Windows? The installation instructions seem to imply that DS4 Windows is required for both methods of implementation.
There are two methods to implement this: 1. Use the steam input profile I created with a ps5/xbox controller 2. Download DS4Windows and use a ps4/5 controller
For the steam deck, we would have to create a similar profile but I don't think I can create and upload it since I do not have a steam deck. Steam does not give me the option. I can instruct you how to do it for the steam deck though.
See if you can do this: "How to access Steam Input On Deck, you can access SI by clicking the Steam button, going to the right and clicking ‘controller settings’. There, you can use ‘quick settings’ for a couple popular options, or see all options by selecting ‘edit layout’. On a desktop, in big picture mode, you can go to ‘manage game’ (second option) and at the top it will say ‘controller configuration’ and ‘controller settings’." - These instructions are from a reddit post and I don't have a steam deck to verify the accuracy
1. Edit Layout
2. Add Action Set called “Semi-Auto” (copy the mappings from default)
3. Under the “Default” action set, set R3 to “Change Action Set (Semi-Auto)
4. Under the “Semi-Auto” action set, set R3 to “Change Action Set (Default)
5.Under the “Semi-Auto” action set, remove the R2 Full Pull command. Map the R2 Soft Pull Command to Right Trigger. Also click the cog wheel and change the press type to Start Press.
6. Click the cog wheel for the Trigger settings and change the Analog Output to “Analog Off”
You should be able to switch action sets now by pressing R3 to enable semi-auto/default fire modes.
Oh you don’t need to install anything if you aren’t using Ds4windows. If you are using it, there should be a folder called “Profiles” in the Ds4windows installation folder.
1. You would have to remap the buttons if you are using different bindings. If you look at the steam input profile I created, you can see the mappings and can adjust accordingly. 2. Yes, it should remain on the last fire selection since it activates a different input set. 3. The mod just enables and disables loop shooting so the max fire rate is whatever the default is. Pressing R3 once just disables loop shooting (continuing to fire while holding the trigger). The guns will only shoot once per trigger pull even if you hold down the trigger. I could make a mod that combines this method with increased fire rate to create a select fire G18C. 4. You can enable a steam notification that tells you which action set is enabled. I'll have to look for the setting. I did this in the RE2 version but it is not set in the RE4 version.
Hey. This mod not for me. I use ur mod ROF and satisfy woth that but I need to compliment your instructions on this one. They are easy to understand and straight to the point. Kudos on making it easy for noobs like me to understand how to enable this. And ty for ROF.
I'll try to when I have time but there really isn't much to show. It would probably still be worth doing a short demo video though. If you press R3, semi-auto is engaged meaning guns will only shoot once even if you hold the trigger. Pressing R3 again reverses them back to full auto or whatever the default fire mode is.

This may be a stupid question, but where do I put the .xml files? In the fluffy mod folder?
Looking forward to your future projects.
1. How exactly does this affect the button mapping conflicting with other bindings?
- For example: I have R3 as the crouch input.
2. Does the mod remember what fire selection you left the weapon on?
- For example: If I choose semi auto for a weapon, then unequip it or change weapons, will it still be on semi auto when I re-equip?
3. Can this mod work on any weapon?
- For example: I'm using a Glock 18c mod that replaces the Blacktail. Can I apply this mod to it if I make the weapon full auto in a profile editor?
4. Is there an icon that indicates what fire selection is currently selected?
Thanks for making such a cool mod!

As for a combination select fire/faster fire rate mod, that has my full endorsement.
