I can confirm that it works on lower difficulties, but I don't notice any difference on professional. I attempted to increase the parry_accept_time in the lua file to a ridiculously high number but still could only see a difference on lower difficulties, not professional. This is a shame since I would love to be able to play professional difficulty with the standard parry window.
So, i tinkered with values in lua and came to conclusion that perfect parry frames isn't effected at all. Maybe update broke it? Otherwise it work as intended
Okay, this might sound strange but, is there any potential correlation between this, and picking up items, opening menus, etc in any way? I've been noticing for a minute now that I keep slashing (like, just LMB tapping once, twice, etc to quickly slash at stuff, enemies, etc, not holding space to do a quick jab), and immediately after that for a moment, I can't pick up items, I just spam F until it picks up again, and I just noticed that it's doing the same thing if I try to open my inventory and or map immediately after too.
The only thing that made me narrow down to this mod is because I was picking at mods to see what might've been a potential cause, and it seems like when I change the Easy Parry presets, if I go for Harder, I can open my menu and pick up items immediately after slashing again, but when I set it to Professional, the behavior I initially described happens again.
EDIT: Actually, this might apparently only be an issue outside of Professional specifically? Because I set it back to Professional after playing on Professional again, and the issues described above don't seem to be present now? For reference, all of the above was established while playing on Hardcore.
I haven't found any setting for perfect parry window specifically, only the general one. It would make all parries harder but normal parries would still only have the effect of a normal parry even if they were harder to perform. I'll keep looking and if I find something that would allow a perfect parries only mod!
i'd like the opposite of this, but i dont know if these mods are still being worked on. Something where professional can do imperfect parries, but the window is shorter...cuz theres some attacks, like krauser's transformed blade attack, that the only defense is to parry, but any parry, no matter the timing, registers as an imperfect parry, and therefore simply can't be defended in professional without just raw dps stagger
It doesn't work on professional difficulty (don't know about the other difficulties). I selected the easier variation, and it still requires me to perform a perfect parry. I also tried to troubleshoot the issue as mentioned in the description, still doesn't work.
All parry variations work across all difficulties. On professional difficulty you can only perform perfect parries. Now, in the vanilla base game; because you can only perform perfect parries the timing window is way too tight; and i mean pixel perfect tight. the "professional" variation was meant to land those perfect parries in a more easier/forgiving way. you can still choose "professional" variant for all other difficulties as well.
The amazing Modder here changed the timing windows and cooldowns of those parries to be easier/fair/to YOUR liking. you yourself have to learn how to parry and when to time it accordingly to the variation you like. The modder and his playtesters did not intend for parrying to be a walk in the park either. we made these variations to satisfy players of different reaction speeds.
Professional still requires perfect parry, but it is made easier by this mod. The easier the preset, the larger the window for a successful parry. The Professional preset is the easiest one and was intended to make perfect parries on Pro much more accessible to all players. The window of a perfect parry with that preset is 4x larger than without this mod and the parry spam cooldown is 3x more forgiving as well.
Try out the Professional preset with that in mind and let me know if it still isn't to your taste. I can add another preset to make it more forgiving if needed. The goal of this mod isn't quite cheat level, but to make sure players of all types, skill levels, and reaction speeds can experience the game mechanics at their own pace.
you could, or choose the "professional" variation. whatever feels comfortable to your reaction, intuition, and skill base. easier and professional have different timing windows; is all. but remember, you have to put the work in practicing in timing with whichever parry version you choose.
That depends on your taste, as all presets will make all parries(perfect included) easier. Professional is the easiest preset currently. If Easier is still a bit too unforgiving, try the Professional preset and let me know if that suits you. I believe my testers did a fantastic job deciding the exact parameters for each preset, but I can always add more if needed.
yes. it works and his mayhem mode works just fine with this mod. I didn't have any problems with it. If you're using this in the story mode with the Raz0r trainer; be careful with swapping back to leon or another character as major bugs can happen. Leon can't parry if you turn off character swap when loading from a game that previously had another character swapped.

Thanks for the good idea!
