How much required VRAM to this textures?
Now I use RX7600(8GB) and texture quality option is 3GB, game is stopping for a moment sometimes when move rooms and autosave.
Especially, run toward darkroom from west office, RE2 has often freeze and shut down.

can you make a version that doesn't modify the rpd board and the newspapers?
i dont like that the rpd board has random advertisements instead of police documents...
and i prefer the original headlines for the articles instead of the entire article but a different one.

I have RTX 3080 with 32GB of RAM and I can only put the graphics to 2GB (orange minor bugs). Once I go over that (red serious bugs) the game chugs. Any suggestions? Maybe lower other settings? Currently everything else is max.

You could try lowering the resolution or super sampling (if playing in VR).

That's odd, I'm assuming you're using this mod with the DX12 version of the game?  You could also see if the Fluffy version works as a test.

The black screen was due to the new Capcom update.  PAK version is fixed with v3.01.

How did you update this mod for the RTX update? I went looking for tutorials, because there are a few mods I'd like to try to make an unofficial update for, but I have no idea where to start.

It's really simple now, the latest version of Fluffy Mod Manager will automatically convert old RE texture mods to the Ray Tracing format if you attempt to install an old mod with the RT version of the game. Alternatively, you could open the old textures in a HEX editor and manually update their header data for RT.  But there's really no reason to do this as Fluffy can do the same RT conversion for you in seconds, lol.

Old RE animation mods are much harder tho, you would need to update the animations to the new Ray Tracing format manually in 3D Studio Max 2017 (afaik newer versions won't work).

Does this only work for texture mods, then? I've tried to install a couple outfits this way and none of them have worked, but I'd assume they also modify meshes.

Yeah afaik it's just for texture mods, not all mods.

Fresh install of RE2 on steam and using the PAK file - game freezes on the loading screen.

Is it required to down grade the game to make this work - I am unsure from reading comments and don;t see anything in the install instructions about downgrading?

    Thanks for any help.

I have 2 versions of this mod on Nexus (Ray Tracing and non-Ray Tracing).  This version is for the Ray Tracing engine and there shouldn't be any need to downgrade.  Not sure why your game would freeze up, I would try reverifying your Steam files and then see if the problem persists.

Thanks, I will try troubleshooting now I know it should work.

I'm playing in VR so I will try pancake version to see if that works before trying VR again.

Yup, definitely make sure it's working in pancake first.  FYI, there were other posts that my RE7 HD texture mod has issues specifically with Praydog's VR mod with the Ray Tracing engine where textures sometimes load as low resolution mipmaps.  Yet the texture mod apparently works fine with the Ray Tracing engine in pancake or with the VR mod with the non-RT engine.  I was never able to figure out what was going on here, but it might be safer in VR to downgrade and avoid Ray Tracing for RE7.

And also note that RE2+3 absolutely need to be played with the non-Ray Tracing engine for VR.  So if you're playing those games, downgrade them and make sure to get the TDB or pre-update versions of Praydog's VR mod and use my non-RT RE2/3 mods.

Okay, I will right click on RE2 in steam and install the non ray tracing beta version and try that.

Yup, RE2 in particular has bugs in VR with the update.  And def pick up SilverEzredes RE2+3 VR gun mods along with my Smooth Locomotion mods for RE2+3 (non-RT only) which fixes the wobbly movement in VR and makes the games feel like a proper first person shooter.

Put it down to user error, did a clean install of everything and now the game is running in VR with the HD textures cool!!

Thanks for those other mod tips I will definitely be installing those once I get this running.

There are only raytracing versions. I think the RT update is not worth it as it downgrades the graphics in many ways. Can you bring the non rt files back?

The non-RT HD Texture Mod for RE2 is now a separate mod on Nexus.  The download link is right in the mod description.

Using Pak version, all UI and menu sound effects are muted.

Are you using any other mods?  The HD Texture Pack doesn't modify any sounds.  I just tested RE2 (Ray Tracing) with the PAK version of this mod and I can confirm that all UI and menu sound effects work perfectly fine.

Did you install the mod using Fluffy or are you using the standalone PAK version?
