This change is a side effect of reducing shadows. And honestly, I don't think it's a problem, sir, it's visibly ignorable. There will be no updates to "correct" this as it would affect the purpose of making the shadows light.

is this https://streamable.com/i4wb2x caused by the mod or is this just vanilla if it is, is the performance improvement worth the quality loss?
edit: i tried it without the mod and the issue doesnt persist https://streamable.com/f5z3vy

I found the problem, it happened to me in large leftovers like a mountain near Armadillo. It has been corrected. Check the updated files!

Just stability, in areas with density instead of dropping 4-6 FPS it remains without dropping. It is for overload situations.

You can try on your computer. On computers that need 30 FPS locked, this mod is good because it will maintain it without decreasing in areas with lots of vegetables that generate shadows.
I have a ryzen 3 3200g 8x1 Ram, and this mod stabilize my FPS.

I will bring a comparison soon in images.

No. The shadows remain active. But now a little lighter.

what do you mean by lighter, like does it make it lighter on the computer so it runs better?

In areas with large vegetation the shadows did not consume as much causing 4-6 Frames to drop. Runs better.

this mod has no difference in quality with vanilla, i get nearly stable 144fps (drops to 140 only) when capped to it with all max settings but shadows on high and softness on medium, im gonna keep using it because it most likely has a little fps boost, i tested this on a save with only new austin so i didnt test tall trees

it's a good mod but i don't think you actually need this since you have the ps3shadowmap.xml in the game files. You can use those and reduce lag and stuttering by a lot. Just extract the ps3shadowmap.xml, rename it shadowmap.xml and then replace the shadowmap.xml from the game files with the one you extracted.

I think it's not that simple. This bug happens when importing 'ps3shadowmap.xml' instead of the original.
This circle of shadows remains on the character. I'll try to fix it and make it optional.

I took some time to check the 'ps3 shadowmap.xml' and it looks exactly the same as the game's default except for minor changes in BiasSlope value and Viewport value. It's not worth putting it in, it doesn't seem like it would help.

What does this actually do. How does it "optimize" the shadow maps?

Some values were lowered in the .xml to reduce consumption. I checked the fps counter using heavy vegetation after loading the save game, comparing both optimization files until I reached an acceptable one.
