Do you think it's possible to make the compass transparent? or at least make the health/stamina meters transparent? I have an OLED so am very careful with HUDs in games....
Love the idea of the mod, although I gotta lay off it when removing the minimap icons also remove the ones on the big map. I started making a version for myself (before realising the map/minimap icon issue), and I'll share it here if that's OK. Practically, it doesn't do anything except hide the roads and elevation on the minimap (no change in icons), but it helps me stop my bad habit of orienting myself by looking at the mini map. It looks like this.
One question though, do you know if it is possible to change the the dimensions of blip_player.dds inside mapblips.wtd? MagicRDR is telling me is telling me the expected size is 128x128 when I attempt to use a larger image, and I can't find any options to change it (I'm very much a novice with modding). I'm thinking if the player icon could be made way bigger and swapped with something like this, it could function like proper compass, since the player icon is always centered in the minimap.
edit: wait, I'm completely smooth-brained. That wouldn't make it work like a compass at all lol. Might still look cool tho
Hi. I did a vanilla optional file with the same edits you did (no blips changes, keeping the waypoint cross), but I wasn't sure to share it because it defeats the purpose of this mod. If there is demand, maybe I will but no promises.
To use a larger image I heard you can skip the limit in MagicRDR by choosing Replace and Multi Import. I just tried this right now without success, so I don't know how 4k modders do. Maybe try asking to those mod authors, and if you find the answer please tell me too I'm also interested in this.
Great mod! But please keep John's icon on the map and the "X" when we mark something? is the basis of the game, I agree to remove the GPS line, but please keep the John icon and the X. Do this as an alternative version
I usually use everything, but are we able to get rid of health, stamina and the job letter and bounty skulls in game (I haven't looked yet), or can you make a version where it does get rid of everything, i.e JUST the compass only. We can use the map for everything else. REAL LIFE like.
Sadly the blips are the same for the map and the mini map, so the yellow objective dot is mandatory. Otherwise you can't know where to go during the missions.
For the stamina and dead eye meters it is possible to cover them by editing the compass texture.
So you can turn them off at all? I mean you'd have to pull out the map every time. I guess if they're on the map they will stay on the compass mini map?
Hi. I'm not sure to understand you. You can do that by simply disabling the mini map on the settings menu, and without installing mapres/mapblips.wtd file.
