There's a much better solution, thanks to kepmehz and LMS! -> kepmehz Mod loader Use this instead! Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption/mods/291
This is relevant exclusively for users who purchased Red Dead Redemption through the "Rockstar Games Launcher" and are required to start the game through it. These users now face issues with loading mods, as mods are automatically deleted, and original files are re-downloaded when the launcher starts. This does NOT affect:
Steam users
Epic Store users
This script provides a workaround that enables launching and playing Red Dead Redemption with .rpf mods. It is not a crack, nor does it bypass the Rockstar Games Launcher. See the tutorial video for more information! https://youtu.be/jQJNwzGqWn0
Troubleshooting Problem: The script window is closing immediately.
Check the execution policy for powershell scripts on your system. 1. go to the windows search bar and search for "powershell" 2. right click on powershell -> run as administrator 3. type: set-executionpolicy remotesigned 4. try the script again.
Try removing the checkbox in the security window like in the video.
Thank you! Can you write this code also for RDR2? Because I want play and datamining/research the retail/release version but the RGL want always update the game (I think it's a simple hash check).
I did everything like the instructions, but powershell opens and closes in a split second, and nothing further happens. No prompt, nothing. I can't seem to get it working at all.
Try removing the checkbox in the security window like in the video. If that doesnt work as well, do the following: 1. go to the windows search bar and search for "powershell" 2. right click on powershell -> run as administrator 3. type: set-executionpolicy remotesigned 4. try the script again.
This is nothing more than a powershell script which is moving .rpf files from A to B and back, timed with the RGL startup to prevent an auto download. Im pretty sure its just a matter of time when a skilled programer presents a far better solution. Thats why I called it "workaround".
Is there any way to make steam not recognize the launcher or to let you open the game without someone else's account in the launcher so you can play the game in steam family mode?

Seems like the cleaner solution to me as there is no fiddling with the RSC itself.
(Screw Rockstar, btw)
