Regarding 1.0 update, now that we have the ability to choose skins for head gear, do you plan on adding that functionality with the clear/dark lenses?

If anyone is wondering. Yes, it still works with 1.0.

Quickly tried one, the clear version, and works for me as of 2023-09-04.

Works even together with the Ghost Balaclava mod, the mask sits just on top of it (doesn't matter any load order, it's not changeable anyway with later paks in the folder overwriting prior paks or that sort of bollocks). The Avon mask pak comes before the Balaclava pak in the list and also above the Masked AMP Heads mod which I also use, and yet it sits on top of the both ingame.

Haven't tried the black version yet, but expect nothing different from it, it's probably goin to work as well. I don't use that 'CharacterLookOverrider' thing, though. Seems to cause a lots of problems wherever I read comments on other mod pages. Gladly stay away from it and seem to have only a tenth of the problems of others.

    Edit (2023-09-04):
After everything is in place in my game, the mask surprisingly even works in conjunction with my FBI mod! 'Surprisingly', because my Ghost Balaclava mod doesn't, it's overridden by the FBI skin. And it still works of course, as mentioned earlier, with Vest Fix and Masked AMP Heads, which are dependencies for the FBI mod to work anyway:

Masked AMP Heads + Vest Retexture Fix + FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) Base + CBRN AVON M53 clear

If you noticed a (rather expected) "bug" that mask(s) overlay(s) suddenly disappear(s) after you have equipped NVGs once and then take them off again, then this is NOT THIS mod!

First off, why expectably? Because by default you can't even equip NVGs if you already have a mask on, so by default it's impossible to experience this "bug", therefore it's not a bug, not a problem in the devs' books because they designed it so that we can't use masks with NVGs - and we hate it, it's just an unrealistic game mechanic in a wanna-be-realistic tactical shooter. So we change it (back) to normality, but unfortunately have to use mods to be able to use NVGs whenever we see fit. And this can be done, e.g., with the mod NVGS Always Available or, not so obviously, also with the Gunfighter Gameplay Improvement 2 v3.5.4 mod. Both not only make it possible to equip NVGs in front of a mask, both also cause this bug. It's house-made! Or to put it this way: It is the complainers who modify their game on their own but don't know what they are doing, it is not the AVON M53 that causes it.

Anyways, I can use an NVG at any time, even without 'NVGS Always Available' or the 'Gunfighter Gameplay' mod (although I use the latter too), just as it should be, like irl. But since I'm also not using that equally silly, unrealistic-looking 8-shaped ingame NVG, but my own ultra-realistic NV + ECOTI, which also gives me peripheral vision of the dark environment around the NV device in front of my eyes, so only my mask overlay has night vision and not all the rest of the screen and it sits at a realistic distance in front of my face and NOT glued to my eyes - just like we have it irl - so it's not an issue for me because I never even touch the ingame NV, effa. It just comes with the drawback that I don't have the IR light source capability of a real NV device because I don't use the ingame-based NV but a ReShade-based one, i.e. self-built mono, bi or quadro NVGs with corresponding mask overlays designed for ReShade that can't affect the in-game NV so it can't possibly tell when to make IR light sources visible to me and when not. Keep this in mind when you decide to use external NVGs that are not based on the game's internal NV.

If you wanted to do the same, best unbind the in-game NV, then nothing can happen and the mask overlays of the ballistic or CBRN masks remain untouched. You could also just have no NVG at all, which would also be ultra realistic by the way. NVGs are so expensive irl (a GPNVG starts at $41,000, let alone combined with a COTI) that even irl not every Special Operator, much less every regular police officer will have one, even in SWAT teams. It depends on each department if they are issued with them and how many they are issued with. By no means every Special Operator irl can have an NVG, I kid you not. So you could roleplay completely without one. Then you just happen to be that guy without an NV device because.... not enough money.

Just don't report this mask-overlay- "bug" here or in the bug section, as it has nothing to do with the AVON M53 mod either!

For all the chaps reporting either here or even in the bug section that this mod doesn't work (for them!), it's time to "unbotch" this mess of yours that you call a game, I reckon! 🥳😅

Here's some more proof that it also works with the vanilla version of the game. Except for the Avon M53 mod, nothing was modified and all game files were thoroughly verified beforehand:

Ready Or Not Vanilla (build 2.5.3.4.6 Feb 9, 2023) + CBRN AVON M53 clear

Well, and if it works for me, why in all the seven bloody hells wouldn't it work for everyone else who is at least running the same, i.e. latest, version of the game code (v.25346 of Feb 9, 2023)? That would make no sense. q. e. d.

So, to wrap it up, if you are, by happenstance, one of those lads who doesn't get things in general to work, which however miraculously demonstrably work for others:

Uninstall all mods. Have Steam check the game files, because no one can comprehend what you've already screwed up in the process, and when the game is back to its initial state, install 2 or 3 mods, then check the game! Does everything work as it should? If so, install 2 or 3 more. Check the game! Now, if something has died or is no longer working or not working as intended, uninstall the last 2 or 3 mods and install only those, one at a time, to isolate the culprit. Once you have identified the mod that is causing the undesirable behaviour of the game, uninstall all the other mods too and now install that isolated bad mod alone and see if it still doesn't work or maybe suddenly works? If it works again, then it's obvious that it's not working with one of the previously installed 2 or 3 mods, and you need to install them one by one along with this "bad mod" to isolate another culprit that's causing a mod to stop working ... and so on and so forth. Only when you're sure it's this or that mod, go to the relevant mod page and report what you think you've found out. Anything else is useless, a waste of everyone's time, including yours. Peace, out! ✌🏼

The vanilla mask is actually Scott Promask, probably one of most common gas mask in Europe.
It's sold in US with NIOSH approval as Scott M120, still used by some riot police and National Guard units.

But yeah, LAPD certainly use Avon products nowadays.

I noticed in the olive drab uniforms (on my end atleast) it doesn't replace the CM-06 gas mask for them, just the standard SWAT uniform.
