Though I have yet to download, this looks like its off the a good start! One minor nitpick is that the Canadian flag is incorrect except for the British Columbia Royal Hudson and the modern 2816 model. The flag shown didn't get designed and adapted till the 1960's. I can't wait to see what the future updates bring!
I'm a little confused what you mean by flags. unless your talking about the Crest on the cab side then that is simply a place holder so later on people can add their own crest or something in the future. and the actual Canadianflags is based off the CPR 2816s modern tours.
Love the mod!!! me and my friend have been talking how it would be so nice to finally run a Hudy on Railoader...just one request for any future work, can you do a NYC version? The Hudson has been a mainstay in the steam enthusiasts hearts ever since Lionel made the first one for model railroading and being able to run a J1, Vanderbilt, Dreyfuss or 20th Century Limited variant would go a long way. I've yet to get a NYC livery, but i have a Boston & Albany variant for now for my model rr and it would be nice to run one on here too. Best of luck with everything, can't wait to see how thing turnout
so regarding the NYC Hudson's i am not looking at going outside of Canada. the companies i want to focus on are CPR (Canadian Pacific), CNR (Canadian National) and GTWR (Grand Trunk Western.
now with the H1s progress its slow but I'm taking my time and not forcing myself to work to much as right now I'm a bit stressed out with my life at home so progress is being faltered! but i plan to get back under way and hoping to model at least once a week instead of once a month.
thank you for your recommendation and feedback and i hope you guys can help the progress of my locomotive with any help!
Ok so after reviewing the mod I will kind of have to take back my praise for it. However since this author has repeatedly said that the mod is unfinished and subject to change I will pass on some encouraging constructive criticism. The general idea of having more Canadian Locomotives is a great idea, however this CPR Hudson mod definitely needs to be refined more before I would consider running it on my Canadian Themed Railway. Its colors stick out way to bright and in general I think the author needs to take some time to refurbish his mod. Tone down the brightness in the colors and add more detail to the locomotives. A great example of a Canadian Locomotive mod would have to be greenninja2402 CPR D10 locomotive series. They aren't perfect but they keep to the games theme of a reliable locomotive that's seen service before coming to your railway. If you see this comment MsCharolette then please take some time and work with your development team to refine these locomotives more. They have a ton of potential!
To be fair, i think having some "brand new/very clean and shiny" + dirty locos helps at least visually some jobs are dirty some are clean, maybe the mod maker can make a skin modifier so you can change between bright new and shiny, to old and dusty depending on the player style, but i do agree that the mod itself needs a lot more work, that's just my opinion so far
the reason textures seem so bright is because of the way railroader manages its shaders. it uses whatever you give it to give the shine so to darken the textures i could just darken the colors but the biggest issue with the boiler and cylinders is they don't have proper reflections as in real life. the sort of grey reflects off everything and turns into a slight shade of blue so it might seem brighter. but do not worry in the final release there will be proper textures as i will be talking to my mod team to see if they can texture it for me so i can focus on the modeling aspect and also get tips about texturing and unwrapping myself.
also regarding the D10 i can see what you mean but being its a ported model it already came with textures that were made by someone else which don't get me wrong i love the D10 i just wish it wasn't a port but i digress, but do not worry i am working on the H1 slowly in the background as well as i will be working on a CPR K1 type locomotive beside it! but thank you for your feedback as i knew there was going to be tons of stuff good and bad and that's why i released it earlier then some recommended.
please if your going to leave a comment be respectful and if you wish to complain in a rude manner then keep all your comments to yourself. if you continue this disrespect i will remove your access to all my future mods
i believe if you use this for your aux tenders they can then give water to the engine they are coupled to just if you wanted your aux water tenders to work in the future https://www.nexusmods.com/railroader/mods/443 you can ask beeman to help if you need it
the only reason the skin mod works for UMM is because the file was already pre set to work with UMM cus it was just an edited file of someone elses so.
currently its not updated to work with UMM But i do plan to release a quick texture update and fix some stats for tenders here within the few hours/days so i MAYBE will be able to download with UMM
