I have it installed. It is working. I haven't bought anything.... yet...... But can you explain to a person who is NOT smarter than a 5th grader (like me on this game) what the info on the page means like the repair cap...does that mean it can only be repaired to that %?
I've been playing Railroader for 15+ months..........A few weeks ago I started using Grandpa Sam's Used Equipment Mod; I enjoyed the mod so much that I started a brand new save, starting back to Day #1 and the only "new" equipment I can acquire is from Grandpa Sam's WITHOUT using any loans...... It sure has made things alot more interesting and alot more challenging and has forced me to slow down. I am really enjoying it! Thank You for creating and sharing such a great mod........ @legotrainman
Just a request, it would be nice to have a setting to turn off certain equipment from appearing in the used equipment mod. For example, when running prototypical repaints, the equipment section is absolutely flooded with other railroad's equipment instead of the data only ones. Or with tenderswaps, being able to turn off the tender swaps you don't like.
It would be cool if we could go in and turn off individual items and prevent them from appearing. Vanilla use case would be to turn off diesels from appearing in the list as they would arrive new depending on the era.
Ish. It's not perfect, and there's some extra info I want to add to improve it. From my own use on my save with the in progress update, it seems to be slightly more balanced, especially when it comes to more worn down equipment.
How about making it flat out cheaper to buy used and repair? Worse condition the better? Thought being, it creates extra work for your shop, and potentially an extra revenue stream for buying used equipment, overhauling it, and then selling it at a profit. Just diversifies income for the railroad a little bit. Shouldn't be massively overpowered, but making 15-20% on each project would be fair I think.
My only complaint is if you have any mod that adds a bunch of different railroad liveries to the default rollingstock the used market is entirely that. And what few engines that do show up on it are still over budget or just straight up not what you want making this mod a bit worthless in the early game. If there was a way to filter out all of the rollingstock that would be appreciated or restrict it to freight stock that is default game only i feel would help greatly.
Something I learned, if you save right before time cycles past 12 and you don't like the offerings, you can reload the save and the offerings will be different during the next cycle.
hmmm .. 95% box car (on your photo) is 15 $ cheaper than new - repairing what you regularly must do, also with own cars, not only engines cost you how much in parts .... ? In truck simulator for example you buy a 200 000 mileage truck for half or less ... and so on ... ?
Yes, a Truck is calculated by mileage, trains, especial wagons not. If they are constructed well, they are nearly live forever. Train prices depending on technologie, spare parts and the economy of an country. So i think this mod is an nice idea, but for an small train company like this, its not nearly real to implement in game.
Special the ones in better condition are to expensive compared to new discounted ones. 83% observation car is $400 more expensive than a new one with reputation discount. But I like the idea but needs some tinkering.
Absolutely love this concept, I have a few suggestions. Since it's UMM loaded, I'd recommend having settings within that menu where you can set min/max condition, and enable/disable locomotives in need of overhaul (I know there's a setting for it in game, but in case players want to only get equipment that needs an overhaul, or not be offered equipment that needs an overhaul)
