Please be aware that Nightdive released an update to the Q2 remaster which sadly broke backward compatibility with code mods created for the original release, like this one. This results in the message "Error during initialization: game is version 2022, not 2023".
To use this mod, you will need to play against the original Nightdive release.
In GoG Galaxy: - Go to the customise button to the right of the play button -> "Manage installation" -> "Configure..." - On the "Installation" tab, untick "Automatically update to newest version" - Click "Show more versions" - Select "Version 5665-v2" - Click OK This will then download the original release, and the unmaster mod will work.
Epic Games Store, Steam: - It appears to not be possible to rollback to the previous version of the game on these platforms, as far as I can tell. You could try searching for how to rollback to previous versions, in case I missed something.
Unfortunately I no longer have capacity to port the mod over to the newer release. The source code is available to other mod developers who want to add unmaster functionality to their mods, and I know some have tried to do so, although I'm not sure of the status of those mods. Sadly, there are no guarantees that another patch from Nightdive won't break backward compatibility for code mods again, so rolling back to the original Nightdive release is the only way to guarantee preservation of these mods.
Hey guys, I asked one of the ND devs why the mod stopped working, he said it's because it's based on the release source. The modder needs to "merge the changes made from the Update 1 commit". Not sure what that means but hopefully it helps.
I don't think there's going to be any updates for this mod until Nightdive releases the second patch for the remaster. I have no idea why it's taking so long for that, it's been a full year already since the first update, and there's still stuff that needs to be fixed/added. This just blows.
Any way to disable the Brain's red eye lasers? I'm pretty sure they never had that crap in the original. And something about the Parasites has changed too, I don't know if they're just more aggressive, or have better range with their little life sucker probe?
The big Parasite change I recall is that you can't dodge the attack anymore, it will always connect. And pretty sure you're right about the Brains (plus do they have a better shield than they used to?)
