Some crates have their own settings when placed inside the map. Like for example the blue crate in Metropol respawns, but the regular chest right next to it doesn't, even though another, identical chest in that same room does. Point is, I can't know where all the individual crates that have been altered in-map are. If you really want to know whether something does or does not respawn, the in-game cheat menu shows flags for the chests and items that don't respawn. If you set that flag to -1 the game will once again act as if you have not interacted with that item or box and spawn it in normally.
Thanks for the info, appreciate it even if it's not much. I'm not shy of cheat/admin menus in games, kinda can't be when Rimworld is your most played game(dev tools are all but necessary sometimes). I'll keep an eye on that, I've been trying to parse what the things mean but it's kinda hard to digest for a non-codewizard.
I also feel like I may have come across as a bit rough in my comment, I often swing between very formal and extremely informal typing styles, but I was genuinely trying to help improve clarity for others if possible. Apologies if I came across poorly.
Nah it's alright, this was mostly meant as a low-effort tweak, so I wasn't ever planning on mapping out any outliers when it comes to the respawn logic. I would gladly append lists and warnings if someone else provides them though, just that I myself would rather focus on something a bit different for the modding community at the moment.
