As stated above, the fix is no longer needed because the game received an official option to enable XInput support. This also means it is no longer maintained and may not work anymore with a current version of the game.
As stated in the readme, the last supported version is the official Steam version v1.08. Unofficial versions are not supported for the mod and may not work at all.
how do i xinput i just want to play the game and this is only steam game i own that supposedly has controlle support but rejects xbox one controller in 2019 ??
As stated in the sticky post above, the fix is no longer needed for the most recent version of the game. Just remove the fix and use the new ingame option.
While it's true that update 1.09 re-added controller support to the game, the controller functionality achieved by your mod was still superior. Why? The new native implementation works (at least on the right stick for the camera) through a very hinky emulated mouse framework that needs an ungodly amount of tweaking to even come close to being usable or comfortable. If you had the time or inclination to release a current 1.10 version of this mod, I know I wouldn't be alone in loving you long time.
Edit: So I just realized there is an option in game to disable Steam API, which kind of solves the issue full stop - no update necessary. However, the one remaining tiny gripe is that disabling the Steam API returns the Xbox icons to the game, and removes the PS4 icons (I am using a DS4 through DS4Windows now that Steam API is disabled). Do you know of any way I can flip a switch in some .ini or .cfg file to turn the PS4 icons back on?
Double Edit: Now I see the second sentence in your sticky :'D. I should just delete this post.
I just updated the fix to support game version v1.08. Please bear in mind that another update to the game might break the fix again, depending on how much the executable changes.
I downloaded this update after new immediate crashes on startup with the 1.08 Prey update. v1.0 results in a crash at start up with an error message: "There was an error during the initialization of the mod: unable to get module: The specified module could not be found." Let me know if I can give any more useful information, thanks.
Just FYI: The fix was not broken by the last game update to v1.07 and is still working as intended, provided you follow the instructions. If you do not have any controller movement at all when using the fix, please take a look at step 4 of the installation, because it is most likely an issue with the Steam API configuration.
Sorry Mate, Fuc#$%^ Bethesda keep trying so hard to undo your fantastic work.... Now we've got PATCH 1.08.... yeiiii, again with the shenanigans of mother3#$% developers.
Confirm! After the 1.08 patch the game doesn't start with the dinput8.dll file in the main directory. If I delete the .dll, the game runs perfectly. Any ideas or fix?

If you are interested in using PS4 button prompts, you can find a corresponding option in the most recent version of my PRIC mod.
