Workflow Involved DDS Converter to turn icons into PNG files. Upscayl with UltraSharp-4x model to upscale to four times the original resolution. Bulk Resize Photos to downscale images to 50%, two times the original resolution to reduce aliasing and upscaling artifacts. TexConvGui with output setting set to B8G8R8A8_UNORM.
Thanks to the downscaling, the new icons are effectively a seamless improvement. While there were some weird looking sections when I examined the icons closely, checking the original icons revealed the same strangeness was present in them as well.
The demonstration images, unfortunately, fail to show the magnitude of the improvements. I don't think it's possible to do it justice with just a screenshot. The closest to showing it is the GLOO ammo icon.
The Mooncrash file contains purely some new item icons added to Mooncrash. To install the mod for Mooncrash, you need to add the basegame file to its precache as well.
Some aliasing is introduced to item icons in the real-time loot menus. This can be solved if you can set the game to render at a higher resolution with DSR or the like.
