  1. Looks like all you did was resize the Arctic wolf... I know that's probably the joke but Colossal actually did SOMETHING. The head shape is clearly much different from an Arctic wolf, or any living subspecies of gray wolf. They're still juveniles so it might be harder to tell for some people who don't have a good eye for animal conformation, but even then, for six month old pups, the differences are still there! They're already the size of fully grown Arctics and they're gonna get way bigger! Yeah sure, whatever, the animals themselves are still genetically gray wolves, but we can't disregard the scientific breakthroughs over semantics. They rewrote some genes to bring back dire wolf traits and they are clearly there. The thicker limbs, more robust body, the bigger, more forward ears, teeth and skull shape. I think this comparison shows the differences very nicely. Here's a 6 month old GMO Colossal dire wolf, compared to an average adult Arctic. The illustration of the skulls also helps, see the shape of the jaws? However gray wolf skulls are still a bit smaller compared to Aenocyon. There's plenty of images comparing real skulls together but I think this illustration helps to show the differences clearly. Look at how much broader the lower jaw is on Colossal's wolf, just like the skull! The muzzle is also longer and more square shaped at the end, less pointy, perfectly straight and without the slight upcurve a lot of Arctics seem to have. I can't wait to see how they look once they're older and build more muscle. The muzzle/nose bridge area is also more broad and wide, kind of similar to a dhole-ish? That's the best way I can describe it. These "dire" wolves have such a unique face and if you even do the slightest bit of research you can find they really did bring back their skull traits!! I'm not directing this to the modder specifically, I still think this is a really great mod (just try and fix up the head shape though!) I'm more directing this towards all the people who think Colossal is scam and these are just oversized Arctic wolves. Like come on people, Beth Shapiro was one of the authors on the previous dire wolf genetics paper, all they did was get more detail and clarify that information. Sorry for the rant, I've been familiar with many of the scientists' work a decade before Colossal, they are doing EXACTLY what they are planning to do, they just hyped it up for the public in a shitty way. I've been waiting for de-extinction my entire life and this is just the beginning and it is clearly a success to me, they are bringing back extinct traits. There was no actual genetic data proving that the dire wolf was reddish anyways, that was just a hypotheses from a very well known paleoartist, Mauricio Anton, and it spread like wildfire, when that first paper came out and they could only get small bits of genetic data, including NO data on the coat color or texture, and guess what, now we know! That's science!

The mod is great but for a Colossal Wolf he seems pretty small
