I have noticed with some mods, If they do not have all gender and Juvenile files, it really messes with my game by removing the base game animals and shoving them where the modded animals should be in the Trading center. This one seems to be one of the many problem children. Not that I am complaining as some mods do run passed this issue just fine.
I wonder if that is something with the base game or something else.
I havent tested this mod yet, but I have had the same problem recently, not quite finind out what causes it. your theory might be as good as any other...
