I have downloaded all of the files from here, as well as the ones from Rekke'd 2. Is there any overlap that I should be aware of? And I'm not entirely sure about the load order; does the main file go above all the others? Also, last silly question, I promise, but do I hold off installing all of the files until after Rekke is speaking Aedyran? Or just the Rekke the Deadfire?
I can't speak to anything about Rekke'd 2. Load order doesn't make any difference with the files from this mod. You only need to hold off on installing Rekke the Deadfire.
Three questions answered in one post, I'm on fire today! (ow, owch, hot, stop doing that Rekke)
Sadly, I am now unsure if I am playing this out right. I've run through all of Rekke's dialogue, and beyond the "Take me home and I'll show you fun" line, I've gotten little else. A couple of "There you are" greetings, a few cute poking me in the arm lines as I leave. Is there something I'm missing? I so want to be a bit more entangled with our favorite arsonist. Maybe I'm expecting too much too soon?
From your description, it's hard to tell if the mod's working or not. Do you get an option to ask "Want to have some fun?" when you click on him and open his dialogue tree (see my screenshot in the mod images for an example)? That's what the base mod adds in, plus a few other small changes to various dialogue bits here and there.
I must have done something wrong, because I'm not getting the "want to have some fun" option. Maybe I shouldn't have Rekke'd 2 installed? Or something else, maybe because I have all of the files from both you and her installed? Is there anything in them that might be overlapping? I made sure that the Aloth romance mods were all turned off. I might have to start over at this point...I really want to get this working.
(Thanks again for your quick responses! You're the best!)
It could be the Rekke'd 2 files, but I've never used that mod so I can't be sure. Do you have any other mods installed that affect dialogue (besides the Aloth ones, which wouldn't cause this problem and which you've got turned off in any case) - the community patch typo fix, for instance?
No, I try to avoid too many of one type of mod at a time. I do have the Unity Console installed. Oh! I do have "Everyone's Two Cents", but I thought that since it just affected banter, that maybe it wouldn't classify as the same? Otherwise, I don't have anything that has an effect on companions, other than one that improves on the single classes. I'll see about taking off the Rekke'd 2 stuff, see if that doesn't work.
I don't see any obvious conflicts within the Everyone's Two Cents mod. It's probably Rekke'd 2, then. If uninstalling all of those files fixes the problem, you can try re-adding them one by one to find the source of the issue, then just play with the ones that don't cause conflicts.
I'll take off all of the Rekke'd 2 files, then, and only install yours. Thank you so much for your help! I look forward to being set on fire! (That was kind of weird to type...)
Alas, I continue to have no luck with Rekke. It's all very sad. I uninstalled all the things, installed only your base file, started a new character, and picked up Rekke. When he was able to speak Aedyran, he said the "take me home" line, but I never got the "wanna have some fun" dialogue choice. I'm at a bit of a loss for what else to try. On a good note, tho', I am now playing your Aloth romance and I continue to absolutely love it!
I can't think of anything else to try either. It's strange that the Aloth mod(s) are working and the Rekke one isn't - they operate exactly the same way, and I've played entire games with them both installed (for testing purposes) and had no issues. As a last resort, if you own the game on Steam you could try downloading the Rekke mod from the Workshop.
I'll give the one from the Steam workshop a try. Is there a big difference between that one and the one you have here? I guess it's just missing the Rekke the Deadfire stuff. Thanks for keeping up with me. Fingers crossed! (and who doesn't love our cranky wizard boy, right?)
It doesn't include "Rekke the Deadfire" or any of the other optional files, and there are a couple extra backend files to accommodate how Steam Workshop does things. I have no idea if it'll solve your problem since I can't figure out what the heck your problem is, but it's worth a shot! Try putting it last in the load order for good measure.
Hah-ha! I have success! Using the steam workshop version has worked! Hooray! I might try dropping a couple of mods in my next playthrough, see if I can't get your nexus files to work. I'd really like to have the Deadfire file working too. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your efforts both in making these mods and in helping me work my way through this!!! Many kudos!
Huzzah! I still wish we could've figured out what the problem was, but at least it's working. Good luck with your experiments, and have fun with Rekke!
I have a problem :( I installed the mods and talked to Rekke. Everything is as always but instead of a text option for option 6. I get *missing string 231*. Would that be the line to initiate the whole flirt thing? I have also the mods from elleung, so I actually don't know what is causing this but it would be great if one of the two of you could help out.
Edit: after some testing I found the culprit. It's the Community patch - typos file. Turned it off and suddenly I got the message in the dialogue. Finally time to get Rekked. Thank you ladies (and/or gentlemen?) for that great mod!
Yay so glad you got it working! Just wanted to pop in here and let you know that unfortunately that file is incompatible. It edits some of the files from both of our mods. Though, in my mod, the typos from Rekke & whatever stringtable I edited, have also been corrected.
Potentially you can also load our mods last in the load order, with mine below Tarlonniel’s, & both of ours below the Community - Typos file, if you do not want to manually delete any overlapping files! Added a small note under the compatibility section for the Get Rekked Vol2 mod if you need any further explanation!
Just a quick question: With the mod installed and enabled, after the "take me home and I'll show you fun" line has been spoken, there is supposed to be a brand new dialogue option appearing, correct? Because all I'm getting are the regular, vanilla ones and the "want to have some fun?" option leads to a short flavour text and an end to the dialogue.
Is the mod, perhaps, in conflict with some other mod? Aside from elleung's additional files and your "Aloth New and Improved" mod, I am only using the "6 Characters Party" (https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/288), (the 8 characters option since I want to catch most companion interactions in a single playthrough). That one modifies the Assembly-CSharp.dll file but I have no idea if that is in any kind of conflict with this mod or not.
There's only supposed to be one new dialogue option in the tree, the one you've already pointed out. The rest of the mod is small changes and additions to various things Rekke says throughout the game. So it seems to be working as intended.
Ah, thank you for clearing it up. I ended up getting the exact same flavour text several times in a row at first so was wondering if something was amiss. Playing a bit more last night and I got to see other lines, too, so all is now well in the world of Rekke. :)
Yeah, sadly you're going to get repeats on occasion, since I wrote a limited number of lines and most of them are in "display randomly" mode. If only I could pull Rekke out of the ether to record new and unique dialogue for me
Was wondering if it was possible to delete the overlapping files in the Aloth Forgotten Sanctum mod so the stringtables changed by the Rekke mod do not interfere with the Aloth ones? This way, I can see the Aloth changes with Rekke’s taking precedence. Is this theoretically possible? If not, that is okay as Rekke will forever be #1! Thanks for your time and a great mod.
It's possible, you just need to go through both folders and delete the files they have in common from the Aloth folder. You can also try changing the load order in the game's settings - move Rekke's FS mod to load after Aloth's (i.e. put it lower in the list) and the Rekke files should override the Aloth ones.
Hey, thanks for the mod. I am really excited to use it, but when I install it, it isn't showing up in game. I can see it on the mod manager in the game in the options tab, but when I play the actual game, nothing is different. What should I do? I created an Override folder for the mod in PillarsofEternityII_data folder.. its not working :( Edit: I actually figured it out! Thanks again for the wonderful mod.
Wow! I come back after months to see this mod even further fleshed out. Been waiting for all DLC’s to come out before replaying! Thank you again for taking my humble request for a romanceable Rekke and completely changing this game for me.
Oh I am looking forward to replaying it! If it’s the dialogue regarding the hug, I still prefer your version of a kiss haha. Thanks again for your contribution!
There won't be any content for the first two DLCs, unfortunately - Rekke's dialogue has been sparse, and what little good stuff there is has been buried under conditionals (so your Watcher must be of a certain background to see it). Except for one point in "Seeker, Slayer, Survivor" where he asks for a kiss from the Watcher. It seems the devs are starting to do my work for me.
Hopefully the last DLC will offer more opportunities. We will see.
Regardless, thank you anyways and I look forward to any more potential romance stuff to be added. May I ask what dialogue conditionals those are so I can maximize my Rekke playthrough? Is this the aristocrat/merchant background in BOW you are alluding to?
Yup, that's the one. There's also a very interesting response to one specific choice in the final conversation with the inquisitor; it's not gated, technically, but you won't see it unless your Watcher responds in a certain way. IIRC, those are Rekke's only major moments in "BoW", and he doesn't even get that much in "SSS." Frustrating.
I believe I know which dialogue choice you refer to. Okay, well thanks anyways. Hopefully there will be more content developing in the future. I admit I check this page almost weekly & sometimes more than that, just to see if there are any new updates from you.
If it's any consolation, I *am* planning to eventually do scripted interaction rewrites for Rekke, a la the ones in my Aloth mod. I've put it off because it's trickier with Rekke, and also because I've already got a lot of files to wrangle after each patch. When I have more time and the release schedule slows down after the third DLC (late December timeframe), I'll get those out.
please give a tutorial on your sorcery you divine being sent from the stars above! I wish to make a Ydwin romance mod unless you;d already be inclined to such a thing. In any case, where do I start with dialogue tree editing? and what tools are necessary other than notepad+ ? :O
Unfortunately, Ydwin doesn't have any such thing as a dialogue tree at the moment, and I don't know how to create one from scratch. The best thing I can do is point you to the modding section of the official forums at forums.obsidian.net.
I use Notepad++ for dialogue editing; if you look around the forum, you'll find other people talking about the tools they use for diving deeper into the game bundles.

I'm having a problem downloading your second file -- I keep getting a popup saying that I need a new decryption key.

I'm glad you're enjoying Aloth, at least!

Secondly, I just wanted to ask if there will be any upcoming DLC content for this romance mod? Crossing my fingers in hopes. Thanks again regardless.
