About this mod

Changes the weapon types of 14 unique weapons - mostly sabres, swords, and great swords - to underutilized weapon types with complementary modals. Adds 9 unique weapons - mostly ranged - with the aim of providing at least 3 unique weapons for each weapon type of differing power levels.

-PURPOSE-

Deadfire is an incredibly fun game. But you know what isn't fun? Wanting to make a dual-axe-wielding ranger with a bear companion, and then getting into the game and realizing that there aren't any good axes for you to dual-wield in your first 35 hours of playtime.

Deadfire has an overabundance of unique swords, great swords, and sabres at the expense of nearly every other weapon type. There are 8 unique sabres, and 1 unique club. There are 8 unique swords, and 2 unique battle axes -- if you backed the game on Fig and got that bonus axe. There are 6 unique great swords, and 2 unique pikes. Except 1 of those pikes isn't actually in the game, so... it's 1 unique pike.

The purpose of this mod is to redistribute the unique weapons more evenly across all of the weapon types, especially in ways that would give uniques innate weapon bonuses and weapon modals that complement their enchantments.

-IMPORTANT NOTE-

This mod WILL CONFLICT with mods that alter the same items and shopkeepers. You can remove the item conflicts by deleting the relevant .gamedatabundle from the UWTDYR folder, but you won't be able to get that item in game. You can remove shopkeeper conflicts by either merging the relevant data in other mods into the correct SHOP UPDATE .gamedatabundle in the UWTDYR folder, or deleting the relevant SHOP UPDATE .gamedatabundle, in which case you'll still be able to access the UWTDYR item being sold via console cheats.

-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS-

If you already have an 'override' folder in your Pillars of Eternity II\PillarsofEternityII_Data folder, just drop the Late-Game Difficulty Fix folder into your override folder.

If you don't have an 'override' folder, go to the your "PillarsofEternityII_Data" folder (usually located under Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity II), create a folder named 'override' there, and copy the UWTDYR folder into your override folder

-WHAT IT DOES-

This mod converts the weapon type of 14 unique weapons - mostly sabres, swords, and great swords - into different, more interesting, less utilized weapon types. Nearly every weapon type will have at least 3 uniques with this mod, generally distributed at points appropriate for their relative power levels. It also adds 9 uniques to help hit that goal, all located in different (thematically appropriate-ish) shops throughout the archipelago.

Mostly all of these changes make the weapons more powerful, or at least useful. Some might be too powerful, but with the itemization nerfs in the 1.1 patch, it should do more to legitimize underused weapons than introduce anything close to broken.

If you're loading this into a game in progress, you might have to wait a day for shop inventories to refresh for the new uniques to show up.
