I think those names reduce the overall quality of the game experience, they shouldn't be there. That was much better handled with the tombstones, but still, why put this in game? In game you should be having fun with the fantasy themed setting, not forced to be reminded on the results of a kickstarting enterprise. In my opinion.
Ever read some of the names? They are totally out of lore and make no sense most of the time. Like one was called Stephen Hawkins and he was a God-like o_o
Thanks to the IE-Mod, they get names fitting their origins and classes, which makes it better to play.
As somebody who pledged 65 dollars to help make the game possible, I don't force other people to play the game the way I demand, as nobody here is demanding you use this mod either.
But to answer your question, it ruins the immersion and cheapens the atmosphere, ruining the suspension of disbelief.
You know who *doesn't* get immersion breaking namesake NPCs standing around everywhere baiting the player into a click, but who REALLY made the game happen?
The effing developers.
If they're fine doing without the 'honor', the backers can be too.

This mod is a god-send to true Roleplayers.

Seriously, thanks for endorsing, and don't forget, I hijacked IE Mod for this.
Can't really ignore a hundred Boaty McBoatface's milling around aimlessly, like drawing over everything in crayon.
