Hey everyone, I've updated the mod to the latest game version (1.0.4.0540) and made some adjustments, see the change log for more details. Enjoy.

Hey hum... It doesn't seem to work, when I install this mod, and try and go get my pet killed, I still get -10 acu, -2 might, and -2 resolve :/

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I also use IE mod, but i'm not sure

Thanks for your work on this mod, sure hope it gets an update for the completed game with The White March 1 & 2 !

I was able to edit the animal companion armor but, the others were a little new to me. It looked like you added whole sections. Wish I knew how to replicate them for current build.

Very interesting mod, havent tried it out yet just installed it. I was wondering, in the game when you go stealth does your pet also stealth? if not is it possible to add that in the mod? I have a bear and I recognize that a bear really wouldn't be able to stealth but a cal or a wolf definitely.

p.s. you know what I hate, how after my character kills something he just stands there waiting for me to tell him to kill something else while his companion is getting beat on, I mean come on man the other enemy is right next to you couldn't the devs make a better A.I. for that? i know its off topic just needed to vent.)

The bonded grief ability as well doesnt work for me, still gives the original -2 stats and -10 acc. no other mods than this one present in 1.04

I know the mod is not ideal atm but would really like a way for the animal companion to grow in defence per level without having to invest a large number of the ranger's talents to do so. Because spending it all on the companion would gimp the ranger's own damage so much and at this time it's just not really justifiable yet, even at a very generous +8 deflection. I wish I knew anything about coding but I am utterly clueless

You should also look into the animal fatigue issue. it would be nice if the animal used the rangers athletics and stealth skills to calculate fatigue and stealth. It really aggravating to build up your whole parties fatigue only to have animal hold your party back because their fatigued after a few fights.

I have tried to do that, but couldn't figure out how to do it without getting a missing shader issue. Hopefully Obsidian will fix it in the next patch, as it seems like more of a bug than a design choice.

Okay, I installed this but when I made a ranger companion he had no animal companion. There were no entries in his character sheet for the animal companion either.
Luckily, I could 'repair' him by copying back over the replaced files from back-ups, then using IE Mod to change his class to Ranger (even though that's what he already was).

Some more details in case they're important:
    Game updated to patch 1.03.0530
    Nature Godlike Ranger
    Stag animal companion

That's strange, no one else has reported anything like that. Only thing I can think of is that it's something to do with IE Mod, or another mod that changes Rangers.

Is the 3damage reduction ontop of the bears default... or did you just extend the bears damage reduction to the other pets?

I think removing the Accuracy malus would do fine, and adding a small bonus to Might and Dexterity. Something like +2 to each. I agree to the comments that seeing my animal companion killed would make me rage, instead of emoing in the middle of a fight.

You've added Might, but taken away a fair bit of Accuracy, so more chance to miss and graze. Seems counter productive to me. I don't know the math but I think I'd rather suffer -2 Might, which is only 6% less damage per hit than gain 12% more damage with more misses and grazes, probably doing less DPS overall.

Personally, I'd prefer just +1 Might, +1 Dexterity, so it's still a bit of a rage, but nothing extreme, almost negated all together. If negative Accuracy must be added, keep it low, like -2 to balance the two +1's. The pets are hardier anyway, which makes this mod worth getting for Ranger characters.

Yeah it is a big accuracy hit, but that's how it is in the vanilla game, I just left it the same while giving the might and res bonuses (actually pre-patch it was -20 which was huge). I might look into making it a little less drastic, maybe half the accuracy while giving some endurance or constitution penalty perhaps.

I think thematically, the hit to accuracy with a boost to might and resolve makes sense. Surely upon seeing your lifelong companion fall you would be more likely to want revenge than sit in the corner sulking away.

Yeah, that's true, RP wise you'd expect be severely miffed. Unfortunately, the way OE designed them, you'd be nonchalant about it as it happens so often, more like: "Oh, there goes Fluffy again. At least he tries, poor bugger."
