Honestly don't know how to port my xml document into a .pw.dll. Looking at the patchwork launcher it should be able to work as normal if you plop the file into the mod directory. (*\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\Managed\iemod\). At least that what it seems from reading it's description. As it installs iemod. I didn't program anything making the mod - it was all the creator of the IEMod that made mine possible. Creating the mod was really simple. I used programmers notepad - it was just a long time to edit all the entries. Sorry I don't have the skills to program a .dll file for users of the game. Hope you have a wonderful summer friend.
Thanks for your mod. Are you saying that you actually encountered cases of backers who didn't like its existence? That's terribly conceited of them. Nobody is forcing anyone to use this mod. It should be enough for them that their sometimes completely idiotic entries appeared in the game. I understand Obsidian's gratitude for their $500+, but they really should have made some rules about it. Also, I'm glad IE Mod added the option to neutralize backer NPC's. Some of their stories are interesting, but it cannot be denied that reading all of this is a gigantic waste of time.
Hi, I appreciate the thought that went into this mod.
Could someone tell me more specifically how to install this? I see the folders in question, but there are no other .xml files there, or anything like that. I see .xml files in the iemod folder in "custom stats" - do I put it there?
Also, do the instructions refer to the "iemod" folder or the "Mods" folder?
Just echoing what DOHtesnexus2008 says, this and IE Mod are the only two mods I'm running with at the moment. And this is great. Thank you.
Took me a while to work out how to install it, this seems to work for me: Steam\SteamApps\common\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\Managed\iemod\MemorialEntries.xml
Hi friend. Thanks Dragon32 for helping DOHtesnexus2008. It just goes right in the IEMOD folder(In your install directory). Sorry I didn't reply soon after you posted - been away from the Nexus for awhile. Hopefully you've got her up and running. Cheers.
Yep. Working like a treat for me. I think some of my confusion was caused by the IE Mod having a new (at least I think it is, I'm new to the whole PoE modding scene) launcher with its own directory structure. Anyways, all working for me now.
Can you remove all the backers useless NPC Too? Cant count the time i lost speaking to them, hoping to find a quest or something interesting or useful.
Good catch, I'll see about making another pass for those entries Uren. I noticed that any entry surrounded by quotes (many of the original memorials that were worth keeping.) The entry ignores the first quote, uses the stylized font first letter, and prints the rest of entry then final quote. Looks ridiculous I know.
The period might have been a mistake I made trying to remove an entry. If you remove all the text between variable quotes the memorial slot is removed from the panel. The way I've been editing the core xml is cutting the entries not lore friendly for the zoned stone, then pasting it in a text file for putting back in later. This sounds like I just screwed up and left the period and moved on. I appreciate you letting me know, I'll do a quick text search for the problem and fix it in the next update.
If this was a post in Old Nua, or an area towards Twin Elms - I haven't gotten a party that far in the game to do any tests. Mostly I have been trying to tidy up the area's memorial stones that I can get two save games to for testing on multiple saves. I'll do a file search later for your mentioned errors, and ensure it's fixed in my next update.
Even a little bit helps. A few typos really makes all my work worthless. Basically that one "." you found made an empty entry pop up on one of the memorials. Good to find minor typos and correct them, sometimes I just miss stuff and I appreciate the heads up regardless.
>I discovered having a Marker Name over a certain number of characters makes the memorials unselectable ingame
If you get errors in the output.txt because of that, I'd seriously avoid this method.
Otherwise, looks like great stuff.
Just in case, I hope you know you can remove entries by leaving their name empty, this will make the game ignore the entry entirely as if it wasn't there. I thought some memorial stones definitely had too many entries. Where there should've clearly been one or two (above a single coffin for example), there were dozens. That was just my impression anyway.
Thanks for the Heads up. Did not know I could remove entries that way. Agree on there being two many entries on most memorial panels; especially in the Copperlane catacombs - Maybe even Woodend plains. I'll do some testing, figure I'll decrease most panels to about 10 entries or less.
On the issue of the Disabling Memorials. Figure I might try a different method. Noticed removing any variables in the file causes the unselectable memorials as well. Which is why I didn't remove any of the memorials slots previously. A simple xml file without any entry errors might be preferable. Using too many characters might be causing an overflow or something. Though to be honest haven't had any problems so far, though I've only done limited testing.
Something else I noted; doesn't seem the memorials get added to character area saves either. So after changing the memorial.xml, when reloading any save; memorial changes are viewable without a screen transition.
Thanks for this. It's a great pity that Obsidian didn't properly curate the backer content.
EDIT: I was looking through the XML and noticed that there is one saying "Corgis are great." (line 1673). Maybe you could change this to something like "A loyal and loving companion"? (I think Corgis are great dogs myself)
Appreciate the heads up Zombie. Missed a few entries on my first pass, so good catch. I'll implement your change;
v1.01+ will also have the Woodend Plains memorial changed to a solely child memorial. Currently making changes to the Copperlane Catacombs (Lore wise they are abandoned, so Monied(not noble) Aedyran Loyalists?) but have to await the IE Mod update for testing purposes.
How can I use this if the GOG version I have is only compatible with the IE Mod version 4.51, not 4.6? GOG versions are behind a bit, they aren't on the same patch release schedule as the Steam versions.
Sorry Ramakgaming, I'm not good at coding. So until GOG updates the file it won't work. The newest version of the IE Mod (At least 4.6) allows exporting the Memorial stones as an easily edited xml file. Only good news is that the memorials aren't truly random. Exact same 18 entries appear in each memorial on multiple save files through my testing. Hopefully the GOG update gets released soon so you can use the mod. Cheers, and wish I could help you more.
Thanks. I'll just wait. I had to ask GOG staff anyway, on how to update it. Because I read somewhere yesterday that their GOG version is higher than mine, and I don't know why mine isn't the same. When I go on the site to see what the version is, it just tells me the version of the GOG variant, not the version of the game itself, so I'm not sure what to do about that until they tell me. They haven't replied yet.
I think the memorials could have added to the story if handled right. For instance, the hollow born are mentioned but never seen(not countings wicht). At least one of the monuments should have been a child memorial for the lost generation, also memorials for warriors lost in the Saints war.
Wish Obsidian had given direction to Backers saying make a memorial to a soldier lost in a battle, or some such.

Thanks again for the mod.
Good job for this, This game need some cleaning.
