I used these and liked them much. Just couple of small visual changes can make the character feel much more at place. For example Sagani is now a lot cuter, and Grieving Mother doesnt look like a cocaine addict anymore. Thank you.
I dislike it very much. It killing spirit of the game and characters. Their faces rough because how it is should be, because of game style and atmosphere
I really dig the new look, particularly since it seems as though it's due to the artistic talent of the OP! As these are not mere photo-manipulated pieces, but actually painted on!
Wow! I love how subtle the changes are. I like the original portraits, but I really like how your changes leave the characters feeling like the same person. Have you done similar edits for art in other games?
A big improvement. When you see these it's obvious that they didn't put enough effort on the portraits. Some portraits are amazing by default though, while others, like Grieving Mother or Eder, are sub-par sloppiness fit for random NPCs.
Games of this size/scope should remain in development for a minimum of 4 years (5 or 6 if they feel they really need it). Much of the side quests, NPC design (such as companion's appearance and personality/interactions), unique item designs and dialogue/overall narrative felt rushed (especially in PoE II, not so much in I). While replaying the first game, I couldn't help but notice how we got a better introduction and generally better pacing to the story/world setting. The sequel still managed to hold my attention pretty well, but I get the feeling they've put considerably less effort into crafting non-generic plots for their side content.
This guy's mod is a good example of what a few extra weeks of experimenting with character design would have accomplished, btw.
