I can't believe you think you deserve money just for running textures through an AI upscaler when people work a lot harder to run Ephinea and they don't even charge for it
I can't believe that you are so blatantly ignorant (and the first two definitions, at that: 1) lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated; AND 2) discourteous or rude) as to your lack of understanding just how much of an undertaking this actually is. There is WAY more to this than just "running textures through an AI upscaler" like, you know, ripping those textures in the first place on top of making sure such upscaled textures work in such a way that PSOBB won't just implode on itself with crashes.
Now, to give you some credit, I do think it is in rather poor taste to charge for the latest access to the updates (to be blunt: I disdain paid mods; moreso if I have to pay for the updates), but it truly is in their right to charge a modicum amount for the time (and sheer frustration) they've spent on trying to get this to work at all. I really do understand your point of view, though. The fact Sodaboy doesn't need (and didn't ever want) donations really does show that he and his team do this for the love of the game--and, in fact, the ONLY reason why donations are even accepted was that the community were begging the staff for YEARS on ways of giving back.
If you know anything about modding PSO (ANY of the versions: DC, GC, PC, BB), then you should also know just how god damn frustrating and time-consuming it really can be. And just how impressive it is that this was even done at such scale.
