hello! kudos for undertaking such a huge overhaul! i'm just curious, I'm on my first playthrough of patho classic (I've already played patho 2 however), do you recommend I try the vanilla experience first or can I install the mod straightaway? thanks :3

I would recommend it to first time players! The story is 100% intact (except for some modified item descriptions and some minor dialogue alterations where needed to communicate changes to quests). While the gameplay is designed to be harder than before, it is intended to be a fair challenge that does not require meta knowledge or savescumming; the overall difficulty level and complexity is still lower than that of Pathologic 2. The option to increase the gameplay speed also makes it less tedious than the original.

For players that have never played Pathologic 1 or 2, I would recommend unchecking the option for increased clock speed, which is intended for veteran players to increase the demands on your optimal routing. If you liked the nail-biting pressure of Pathologic 2, I would check that option.

I will note, however, that the mod is (mostly) not compatible with vanilla save games. So you'll need to start a fresh playthrough. Also, I have an update for the mod coming soon, but I've been busy with other projects -- I'll try to get to that when I can.

turns patho 1 into a proper nail-biting stressfest, which rocks! a few thoughts after finishing:

    - arsoners, while being pretty annoying to take down, have overpowered loot drops. after i realized how often they have fresh meat and delta tablets, respectively the best food and immunity-boosting items, farming them turned any route into a breeze

    - the various bachelor and haruspex sidequest houses in the changeling route still have the better item drops; they should prolly be plundered completely

    - perhaps the item quality variety in item shop shouldn't be so vast? it can transform from pretty much nothing to several pieces of meat and fish available in one save load, which encourages savescumming

    - mixed feelings on the house looting. guaranteed items and more looters is a very good change, but i dunno about the darkness. i had no problems seeing everything without lighting up the lamp so it turned into a minor inconvenience for me, but it'd propably be a nightmare for someone with worse sight than me, and i don't particurarily enjoy having such an advantage

other than that, a bangin job, will never be replaying the game without this turned on, thanks for Your hard work!

      Thanks for the feedback!

Arsonists definitely need a loot nerf, I reduced their money but didn't touch the drop probabilities for their other items. I'll do that for the next version.

I'm not sure how straightforward it would be to change the loot in the Bachelor/Haruspex side quest houses. I would have to check how the object scripts are assigned there.

Shop inventories reset on save/load? I had thought that wasn't the case. It is a bit tricky to do much with shop inventory variance, their scripts are pretty onerous to edit beyond changing chance/item count.

I believe that keeping the kerosene lamp lit actually makes you easier to spot by the looters (but could never truly verify since the AI is inconsistent). The player can adjust their gamma to make it easier to see if they don't like the mechanic; I think it adds to tension.

I ran into a bug - playing as the Haruspex, going to the Soul-and-a-Halves fortress and talking to Notkin freezes the game (it's stuck on Notkin's face like as in dialogue, but the dialogue never shows up). I tried it on my install, then a fresh install - having only opened the game once and then installed the mod - and had the same issue both times. Other dialogues (Executors, Bad Grief, Teenage Girl) didn't run into the same issue. I tried changing the resolution and other Display settings to no avail, as well as reinstalling the mod without the accelerated walking/accelerated clock. Any help would be appreciated, I've been looking forward to this mod for a while now!
