Tired of skipping through 5 intros to see the main menu? This mod removes game startup cutscenes.

This mod is a bit of a loophole that auto-skips the corporate title cards, the Children Burying The Doll cutscene, and the "Allow me to remind you..." text crawl that play during boot before Pathologic's main menu opens. The behavior is customizable, based on what you want to remove; applying all of the mod's components (as of version 1.0.0) cuts load time (from the time the game window appears to the time you see the menu) to about two seconds, with no user input required.
How to install:
Extract the mod's zip file into your Pathologic\ directory (so that the mod's data\ directory merges with your Pathologic\data directory). Be aware that some of the original video files will be overwritten by this, and should be backed up first -- you'll want to at least move the real "intro.wmv" cutscene somewhere else to not lose it!
The mod should work the same on all releases of Pathologic, whether 2005 or Classic HD, but see below for installing the text skip on other languages.
How it works:
Most of the boot cutscenes are plain, skippable .wmv files that play in sequence before the menu launches. The mod replaces these with versions of the same cutscenes that are 0 seconds long, and thus don't show up to the player. (Note that the companies with title cards all remain listed in the Credits menu.)
The introductory text crawl doesn't work the same -- it plays a set amount of text over a set length of audio. To mitigate this, this mod removes the relevant text and sets the audio length to zero seconds. However, the background screen still shows up briefly; this is why boot time is two seconds instead of zero.
Once we understand what scripts do a little better, ideally there'll be an update to this mod that skips trying to play the intro cutscenes entirely (thus saving any need to change the audio/video/strings files) and fully removes the text crawl. Stay tuned!
