I can look into making an optional x4 (32k), but that won't be until I break down to buy the program that made the textures (topaz photo AI), which won't be until they add something to the map.
Lol, I'm using waifu2x, it's just set to scale only, I purposely left the dxt compression because it looks weird smoothed over (but I will still test different settings/models)

it has 4 profiles from Topaz Photo AI which is a successor of Topaz Gigapixel AI , personally i think they go in this order for the map - graphics>low resolution>standard v2>high fidelity v2>waifu2x>base map yes every single one of them is better than waifu2x and by far, but my order doesn't really matter since that's your mod, not mine anyways will be very thankful if you will be able to add one of these as an option, size of png is higher though so it should run worse on lower end hw than waifu2x i suppose, but i've added 8k versions exactly due to that for people with lower end hw
Yes, waifu2x is an old style upscale similar to website upscalers, but i don't think it is the worst, it has its uses. From my experience topaz is not ideal for dxt compression or other video game textures, but topaz is fantastic for photos. I will look at your textures tonight. The textures are png, but that is not an issue because when we import them into UE5 they are converted to DDS BC1.
Specialty ai upscale models seem to not like the various surface types present in the image, misc models are honestly meh, and waifu2x cannot create further detail. Seems like a photo upscaler is the best choice here, thanks for providing the upscaled textures YaroslavZ! I decided to use the Standard V2 version, and waifu2x on the icons
looks great but it's about at 5-10 fps performance hit on one of my pcs. even without the map open? must be something to do with what you're saying about the LOD maybe even a conflict with my engine.ini somehow? on the other pc with the same ini file and much better gpu, it's not as noticeable. looks amazing and i assume the 1x version is only the LOD disabled and the 2x is waifu?
yeah the x1 of the new version works great. using a 970 on that pc LOL, it's really old. like i said on my 2070super pc i couldn't really tell a difference

This is a great map mod, and it is also well paired with, if I can find one, some sort of mod that increases how far you can zoom in.
x2 = 16k
x8 = 65k lol
AI losses it's effectiveness above x2 or x4

You are right about the versions
x1=no LOD (reimported default 8k texture)
x2= waifu2x + no LOD (16k texture)
Quick question, any chance you'd be able to make a mod for the icons on map as well? a bit less pixel mode when zoomed in? :D
