This mod does have a weird lag problem where picking your pal causes the game to freeze for 5-10 seconds. So i stopped using it and went back to using Gantz79's PAK file that sets the cost to 0/1 for each level rather than buff the amount gained. That version has zero lag since its not a script file.
Though script files are compatible with Pak files since they don't compete for the same data string. I was able to use this mod with the 2x base range pak.
