Mage's Equipment Overhaul changes how the gear related to mages is, trying to attenuate the flaws of how the mana cost reduction works in this game, adding back a source of damage and making the equip more various.

Usually, in this game, a pure mage has a choice of one or two sets since most of them just suck. Everyone, myself included, aims to be a gold-lich-wannabe since its items are the ones with the highest mana cost reduction. At that point, how much total mana you have doesn't matter anymore since you cast spells for free, or spending one point of mana with the new experimental patch.
This mod tries to attenuate this by diversifying the gear of magic users, often reducing the mana cost reduction that they give, but adding back a source of elemental damage related to the item.

The main mod tweaks mage armors and one specific offhand weapon at the moment. I've tweaked some heavy armor helmets to balance out with the changes of this mod. 
This mod also fixes the missing displayed info of the Light Mender's Lexicon: now it shows correctly the -15% mana cost, as you can see in the pics.
I haven't changed the weapons that gives mana cost reduction since they are already not-so-good damage-wise. I also didn't tweak the Light Mender's backpack since -10% mana cost is good enough, considering you're losing 35 carrying capacity compared to Merfino's. It's a balanced trade-off already.
In the optional files you can find a tweak to Mage's Tent which, with the addon, now grants -10% mana cost. I am currently not able to convert that part to Partiality. Hopefully in the next updates I will be able to include that in the main mod.


Now let's see the actual numbers.


- Wide Black Hat

Old: -20% mana cost, +5% movement speed, +10% fire damage.
New: -10% mana cost, +10% movement speed, -5% stamina cost, +10% fire damage.

- Wide Blue Hat

Old: -20% mana cost, -5% stamina cost, +10% frost damage.
New: -10% mana cost, -10% stamina cost, +5% movement speed, +10% frost damage.

- Clansage Robe

Old: -20% mana cost.
New: -10% mana cost, 10% frost damage.

- Tenebrous Set

Old:  29 resistance to fire, frost and lightning, -30% mana cost, 15% bonus damage to decay and ethereal.
New: 29 resistance to fire, decay and ethereal, -20% mana cost, 20% bonus damage to fire, decay and ethereal.

- Gold-Lich set

Old: -70% mana cost.
New: -35% mana cost, +30% lightning damage.

- Jade-Lich set

Old: -60% mana cost, 10% bonus damage to decay and fire.
New: -35% mana cost, 25% bonus damage to decay and fire.

- Scholar's Circlet

Old: -10% mana cost.
New: -10% mana cost, +5% lightning damage.

- Runic set

Old: +15% damage to ethereal and lightning damage - only the armor had the damage boost.
New: +20% damage to ethereal and lightning damage - now the armor has +10%, but the boots and the helm have both +5%.

- White Priest Hood

Old: -10% mana cost.
New:  -10% mana cost, +10% movement speed, -10% stamina use.

- White Priest Hat

Old: -20% damage to fire, frost and decay.
New: -10% damage to fire, frost and decay - this item was way too powerful, and now you have the tools to build your character! You won't need this anymore.

- Arcane Robe

Old: -15% mana cost.
New: -10% mana cost, +5% bonus damage to fire, frost and lightning damage.

- Arcane Hood

Old: -10% mana cost.
New: -10% mana cost, +5% bonus damage to fire, frost and lightning damage.

- Coralhorn Mask

Old: -10% mana cost.
New: -10% mana cost, +5% physical damage.

- Mysterious Chakram

Old: 16 physical and fire damage.
New: 20 physical and fire damage, -10% mana cost.

To balance the aforementioned changes, some heavy armor helmets have been tweaked.

- Elite Plate Helm, Kintsugi Helm, Plate Helm and Black Plate Helm.

New:
 now have +30% to mana cost.

- Palladium Helm, Wolf Plate Full-Helm and Zagis' Mask.

New: now have +25% to mana cost.


- Mage Tent * Downloadable as addon in the optional files - at the moment only available as UABE mod.

Old: -15% mana cost.
New: -10% mana cost.

~Installation~


This mod needs Partiality Mod Launcher to work.

  • Download the newest "Partiality Launcher" from here: https://github.com/PartialityModding/PartialityLauncher/releases.
  • Extract the file wherever you want.
  • Run "Partiality Launcher.bat".
  • Click the "File" tab, and then click "Open".
  • Browse and locate your "Outward.exe".
  • In the APPID, make sure there is the ID of the game: "794260". If there isn't, put it manually.
  • Download "Mage's Equipment Overhaul.rar" and unzip it in the "Mods" folder.
  • Click "Refresh Mod List", and check the new mod.
  • Click "Apply Mods". Launch the program if you wish, or close the window.
  • Enjoy!
