Honestly I'd love a mod similar to this for definitive edition that simply makes it so food stops decaying while it's in your stash once again like it used to. :o
I knew the Definitive Edition made a few balance changes, but I didn't know that it changed food decay. I haven't touched the game in years but I'll see if it's something I can easily add as an option. My schedule is erratic though so I can't make any promises.
Mod doesn't seem to work for me. I tried sleeping a few times in a row, and the decay bar continues to move down.
There's no installation instructions on this page, just a link on "how to install mods here" that takes you to how to install the BepInEx thing. I installed the mod the same way as the others. Dragged the zip file to the steam outward directory. Then right click - 7zip - Extract Here.
Was this the correct way to do it? Or am I supposed to do something else?
Edit: I should add, my Extended Hotkeys is working just fine. It's only this mod that doesn't seem to be.
Edit 2: I made a new character to test it, and it works fine with the new one. However, the old character still continues to have food decay.
Also, I'm not sure if this is related or not. But on my old character, whenever I crafted Gabbery or Crawlberry Tartine, it would create the item, but it wouldn't show up in my backpack. I tried relogging, restarting the game, restarting the PC etc. I'd use the cooking pot, craft the the jam, then the tartines, and it would say "3 added to inventory", but when I checked my backpack, it wasn't anywhere in there. However, on the new character I made, where the No Food Decay IS working, I ran around and grabbed some berries, bought a bread, and made a tartine, and it showed up fine.
Like I said, not sure if the 2 things are related or not, but everything seems to be working on the new character I made, so I'll probably just start over again from the beginning. The only downside is, I put like 20 hours or so into that play through so far, just crafted my Horror Bow and all T_T RIP.
I'm sorry for the confusion on installing the mod, I've updated the description page to explain where the DLL file goes. This mod should work fine if it's installed for an existing character. If you're still having problems with that, could you check the Outward\BepInEx\LogOutput.log file and see if you have any errors? If you do then you can post the whole log to somewhere like pastebin and I can try to help.
Weird, I don't see any updated installation information. The installation method is still not clear. Especially if I use r2modman. Can you add your mod to the r2modman database?
"Installation Extract the DLL file into your Outward\BepInEx\plugins directory. Instructions for installing mods can be found here. If you use Steam or GoG then the most important step is to switch to the modding branch of Outward."
You may not have realized it, but this post you replied to is over 20 months old. R2Modman/Thunderstore didn't exist for Outward back then. I did get a report about this mod not working below but it had a follow up that you can import it manually into R2Modman. I honestly don't know anything about R2Modman or Thunderstore at the moment so I currently can't help more than that, but I'll read up on them and see if I can upload this mod to Thunderstore in the next few days.
You can supposedly install local mods in r2modman. In the profile for your game go to settings->profile->import local mod and select the dll. No idea if that works for this mod though
everything is fine . didn't realise my old food got the decay bar but did not decay anymore and, the new food stack with the old one so i thought i've made a bad installation, but everything work fine. Thank you for taking time to test it
Thank you thank you thank you! I don't have tons of time to play this game and the amount of it being saved by not having to constantly manage my damn food is priceless! I don't even care if realistically food will spoil, it's a fantasy world in a game and in my version there are no expiration dates on edibles, lol.
Just a quick note to anyone who installs this mid-game, any items you already had on your character or in your stash will still show the same level of decay that they had before HOWEVER they will not decay any further. When you pick up new items that are fresh those bars should never decrease HOWEVER if you already had some of the same item in your bag that did not have a full bar then they may get added to that original stack and adapt that bar level. (Not exactly sure how that works in general tbh) My advice, if the non-full decay bar bothers you then either use up or sell your old stock before looting new items if possible.
Also, during install follow the directions linked on the description page and place this mods .dll file here: Outward\BepInEx\plugins\
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it! Regarding stacked food, you should be able to use the click menu selection Explore Stack to see which ones in the stack don't have a full bar and can hopefully eat them from there.
If you send me a message with your BepInEx log I can take a look and let you know if it's my mod or something else causing your problem. You can find it in the BepInEx folder with the name LogOutput.log. If it has a lot of lines you can paste it on pastebin.com first and give me the link.
Thank you for the feedback. It seems that crabeye seeds and grilled crabeye seeds aren't considered "food" by the game even though you can eat them to restore your hunger bar. While digging into the DLC items, a lot of those items are also not properly tagged as being food. I've come up with a way to fix it but need to do some minor testing to check for fringe cases.

Most Outward mods do this step for you but this one doesn't.

Does this mod work with the Three Brothers DLC ?
it doesn't work for me, so i'm not sure if it's cause of the DLC or a bad installation

Hope this helps someone! Happy modding!
Thanks to you, I realized that I put it in the wrong place.
Thank you!
