Installed this mod in hopes it would allow this spell to be usable again. As soon as i rest in a bed to level up from 9 to 10, the spell becomes unusable "Your skill level is too low"
This has nothing to do with the unofficial patch specifically on my part. This is about the fact that Bethesda has confirmed they're going to be releasing more bug fix patches for the base game, so it's good practice to use very small surgical change type of mods until that happens (if you really love modding and don't want to wait to begin). This will help to protect your save game file from errors once Bethesda releases their patches. Then later on, after Bethesda has had time to get the game a little more settled, then it's safer to use large mods with many changes.
The author might have a bad rep, but in this case the other mod is solid, as it still costs 309 which another post referred to it as the result of this fix.
Please do not get involved into mod politics if you can avoid it. No one that tells you to start beefs has anyone's best interest at heart. Judge for yourself
I have 100 destruction and intelligence and even with this fix the spell costs 309 magicka to cast, my max magicka being 300. Is this intentional? I'd have to wear something enchanted with fortify magicka in order to cast the spell 1 time?
This basically just changes the magicka cost values to be as if the spell were made with spellcrafting soooo 🤷♂️
Normally one time rewards like this are somewhat better or more worth it than the spellcrafting equivalent, but the original game has the costs being basically double and I don't want to be the one to personally decide the "correct" balancing of the spell and make the costs any lower.
Hi! Is your mod compatible with Balanced Unleveled Rewards by PushTheWinButton ? In his mod, spells are auto leveled just like in your other mod. He explains about them "Rather than having fixed stats, they will now level up with you, i.e. the lower leveled spells will be removed and swapped with the higher level ones when you pass the level requirement."
I might be alone in this, but I always figured Finger of the Mountain was supposed to suck - it's a punishment/gag reward. You literally only just joined and you're already betraying the guild for power? Fine, here's your """reward""", jackass.
No, all the spell rewards in the game are supposed to have less magic cost than if you made it yourself, they just had this one spell have the level scaling in reverse.
They are located and copied from a table on the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages page for the spell, linked in the description and screenshotted in the Images section. (Original in red, new in blue.)
So....how do we install this? What folder does it go in? I see no instructions. What is the name of the file we put in the plugins.txt?
For your previous mod the folder that downloads is called "Auto Upgrade Leveled Items" but the text we put is AutoUpgradeRewards.esp so its different.
Can we get some basic instructions on what file to unzip it into (as this game seems to want different mods to be unzipped into different folders, unlike other games ive modded where they all go into a "mod" folder") So i don't want to just guess. Using your other mod and want to add this, just don't have that context....
Ended up going with another version of this mod that had the instructions on it, and does the same thing, but I did realize in setting that up and doing some digging these .esp mods all go in the obvdat/data folder, while some other mods get extracted to the main game folder. So it looks like this one gets dumped in the same folder as "autoupgraderewards.esp" for any wondering. Sorry to be dense, I just follow the instructions on the front of the mod pages and wasnt figuring out how it actually worked. Would still help to have those on the front page for this one for dense people like me!

/path/to/steam/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Oblivion Remastered/OblivionRemastered/Content/Dev/ObvData/Data/
Then you add FingerOfTheMountainFix.esp to the end of the Plugins.txt file.
